I loved my z10 but that was a year ago and I'm wondering if hardware wise it might be slightly dated.

Thing is I have my awesome z30 now and my friend (iPhone user) is so impressed with my phone she wants a BlackBerry too (that would be the 7th person I've convinced)

Thing is, she wants a smaller phone and I know that the z30 is leagues beyond z10 and I'm worried that she will be disappointed if she gets the z10...

I had one friend who is not entirely pleased with the z10 (though he refused to upgrade from10.0 for the longest time and I've yet to hear from him how's 10.2) and another with the q10.

Wondering if I should tell her to hold out? Or is the z10 still a feasible option?

I have one since day one and I like mine great.
I see no reason to not encourage her to get one.

I would suggest that it depends on: 1) What she uses her I-Phone for. 2) What she is impressed with on your Z30. 3) Will she be able to do all that she is used to doing now and will want to do on the Z10?

I have a friend with an I-Phone 4S and he would be just as happy or more so with a Z10 now that the 10.2.1 O/S is out. The only thing he might not like is not having Siri when he doesn't want to type.

BTW, I am much happier with my Z10 now than when I first got it 9 months ago. The current O/S is what should have been on the phone to begin with.

Which carrier is she with? Would you be able to update her phone to 10.2.1 if she's not on Verizon? I've had my Z10 since they first came out and I still love it - more than ever now that I'm on 10.2.1 (and since getting a glimpse of 10.3). I don't think it's something you should be worried about recommending, at all!!

A word of warning, however: When she switches, make sure she unregisters her phone with Apple so iMessage won't mess with her ability to get texts.

Unless she's using USB OTG, Miracast or FM Radio, hardware means nothing. This 'outdated' hardware runs 10.2.1 and has very little lag. I can get tasks done fast and efficiently with the hub. So unless she's an 'app' person I have no doubt Z10 is a solid choice

Wow, good question. I'm a BlackBerry fan but I can't say I'd recommend the Z10. Point him/her to the Z30 or if they like real typing the Q10. I have friends that have Z10's and they love the phone but HATE the battery life.

I just recommended that a family member get a Z30 over a z10. As soon as my Z10 is paid off contract, I'll be get the flagship BlackBerry OS 10 device, and if it a Z30, so be it.

I love my Z10. I prefer it over the Z30. I would suggest it depending on app needs and so forth. But as far as performance is concerned I think it is awesome.

I wish it was better also. But I like that i can swap out the battery, to another. And I do just that about 20/30% of the time.
The rest is the result of strategic charger placement, and a few external power mat battery's. I try to always stay on top of it.

I've had my Z10 for almost a year and still think it's a great phone. Gets better with every updated OS. I will admit that I have bounced back and forth a couple times to an iPhone 5 but I always seem to come back to my Z. I'm also kinda baffled by the battery complaints. I get great battery life out of my Z and it easily matches and usually surpasses the battery life from my iPhone 5. For me, the Z is a great choice.

I am sure the Z30 is a better phone overall. Though I do not have one. The hardware is faster. The screen larger. The battery is bigger. And the Paratek antenna is better than what's in the Z10.

Depends on how much she has to have a smaller phone. I'd say if she has the Z10 and then uses your Z30 she'll be a little let down. But that is just a guess.

All you guys recommending the Z30 should probably (re)read the OP. The friend said the Z30 is too big. One of the reasons why I didn't upgrade.

Recommend the Z30 if you are a real friend. I had Z10 and now have Z30. Is significantly better.

Thanks for the replies guys. I am thinking maybe I should just convince her that the z30 is not too big after all.

I am sure she don't use miracast though I've boosted about the USB OTG so there might be some expectation there... I guess I just have to let her see the z10 and decide for herself.

The other thing is battery life, she knows I go a full day without charging.

I don't think she is a power iPhone user and interface wise I guess she don't care.

I think I'm kinda more worried that I've built up her expectations and if she gets disappointed, it will be even worse ...

My wife went from a iPhone to the z10. I have a z30 however she thought it was to big for her hands. She loves her z10. She only gave BlackBerry a chance after I loaded 10.2.... last fall. She hated my z10 at the time. As far as battery life she claim it's about the same as her iPhone. She was used to having to charge part way through the day.

When is your friend thinking of a new phone? If can hold off till fall there should be some new devices for her to look at. And the cost of Z30 should be down by then.
