Now the question would be, if it isn't an April Fool's joke, are you really surprised? But it is framed as a joke.

Soooo does BlackBerryOS.com actively WANT BlackBerry to fail? A prank like that could actually hurt BlackBerry because of all the idjits out there who won't/don't get it...

April fools...'just ask the ceo for access' after 3 years without being able to break in..and he gives up the goods just like that..
And then 'boom the world is our oyster'.

Scare tactics really work on the weak minded.

Other countries literally did just that. Told BlackBerry to give them backdoor access or be banned from their country.

If any country has access the the NSA does too. They're not going to let people go around having privacy. God forbid! The US government can't have that.

There is no joke here. It's actually just old news.

Other countries didn't get back door access. They just didn't believe BlackBerry when they told them they can't give them a key to unencrypt BlackBerry messages because it can't be done, not even by BlackBerry, tried to force access by threatening shutdown of services. Went away when their IT guys explained it to their political leaders . Then their was the whole thing about regional servers, who gets the new ones . Ego thing between rival countries , more denial of service threats.

    They got access to servers.
BlackBerry decision to give in to India and UAE doesn't do much to make me feel BlackBerry is more secure than the competition. I think if they bad stood up to the countries instead of cave that it would have made BlackBerry stand apart from the competition.
