I still don't get why we aren't getting blasted by commercials showing every unique feature and capability of this phone all over the TV and web. Shame on BlackBerry.

Going through the gate at airport and use the android jetblue app on my q10 to scan boarding pass. The gate agent says "oh, an old fashioned blackberry, don't see those much anymore." wanted to punch him, but it's not his fault. People don't know what this thing can do or that it even exists, and that is all the fault of BlackBerry.

Sad state of advertising? That would insinuate that there is ANY advertising!!!!

If they promoted new features (before competition steals them) like Apple and Samsung do then there would likely be millions more sold. Is asinine to think they will get sales without marketing.

BlackBerry has been terrible with advertising in the last five years or so.

Here's hoping Mr. Chen will change that. Maybe the are waiting to release the Q20 and then do a blast marketing campaign.

It's so frustrating to see tons of advertising from other brands and hardly any from BlackBerry, when you know that BlackBerry is a superior product.

I would love to hear Chen's thoughts on why we never see a single BB commercial. How are they going to generate any buzz without advertising? Focusing on enterprise is all fine, but at the end of the day, even a CEO goes home and becomes a consumer watching tv. If they still have a couple billion in the bank, how about spending $100MM on some heavy advertising in Canada and US? Don't make it all flash and glam - pick a feature like the universal search and everything that can be done with just that one simple feature (like posting to social, starting to dial, etc.) and hammer it home. As far as I'm concerned, without this advertising, they are still just as clueless as they ever were under the co-mismanagers.

Just checking in again - anyone see a single BlackBerry commercial yet this year? Radio ad? Print ad? Not me, not a single ad.

They are still completely out of touch and clueless on rebuilding the brand and awareness. Crazy.

I remember a good commercial for the Pearl 8100 many years ago. It showed a woman going through her daily activities and how the phone helped her with work and her leisure time. It was from her perspective--you saw her arm and phone and what was in front of her. Good commercial.

BlackBerry needs something like that again. Show how BB10 can help you with your job using the HUB and plan an evening out with friends using BBM.

I'd love to see a commercial with a BlackBerry in the centre of the screen, with devices being controlled in the background as each function changes. Like a USB stick, miracast, a keyboard, sharing photos, kb flicking, installing android apps. They need to show it off and what it can do.

Im living in Indonesia currently and havent seen any tv adverts or billboards. This is supposed to be their biggest market but they havent consolidated it at all. They are now losing big time to OPPO on the cheap smartphones side and samsung in the other markets. So sad cause when i first arrived 2 years ago, i was forced to buy blackberry for work here but now nobody is using it anymore. My colleagues have all switched to LINE or whatsapp

Blackberry used to sponsor MLB. I can't remember what it was. All Star game balloting or something. But it was "presented by BlackBerry" or something along those lines. They should start with something like that again. Blackberry sponsored something on NHL.com also and there was signage along the boards at Bell Centre which were prominent when they showed live TV games. I'm not a Canadiens fan (Washington Capitals all the way) but it was always interesting to see that.

Reviving an old thread. Still haven't seen a single commercial in recent memory. I think the last one I saw was that absolutely awful superbowl thing about it would be easier to show you what it can't do.

How much longer can BlackBerry focus solely on the product and not try telling people they are still in business. I've not run into a single person in the last six months that even knows about the new bb10 devices. They see my Q10 and ask why I'm using a 4 year old phone from a bankrupt, out-of-business company. Ugh

BlackBerry is focusing on enterprise, you aren't going to see advertising aimed at consumers in the near future.

That is a mistake. Every person working at an enterprise company is still just regular Joe schmoe consumer when they go home and turn on the tv. Why has Iphone penetrated so much of the corporate world? Because consumers started buying them then demanding that they be allowed to use them for work also. Byod is how it is and BlackBerry better get on board with this fact. Enterprise isn't some magical group of people who don't interact with common society. They are just huge groups of regular people. CEO's of enterprise companies still go home and watch TV. Or read the WSJ or NYT or NatGeo or whatever.

If a CIO decides to go with BlackBerry, do they want to hear all of their employees griping about how they want to stick with their iphones? Or would they rather have people say ok, I've seen some cool and productive things the new BlackBerry can do, sure, let's try it.

They have cash - even some facebook ads and a couple well-times commercials can be done for a couple mil.

Lack of BlackBerry's marketing could be a huge backfire and their downfall in terms of selling their phones. More and more mobile operators are excluding their phones. Thats just lame BlackBerry!

See - that illustrates my point. One of those people in that bar may have been a CIO or a small business owner or some other decision maker that had no idea BB even still existed as a company.

I've never seen any questions from Kevin or any other CB staffer to Chen about their advertising strategy other than hiring Gyro, which doesn't seem like they've done anything yet anyhow.
