just last weekend i saw this on a friends BB and been able to take a pic - all icons had been working.

    what do you think?

I actually like the idea of being able to customise icons - like android allows it.

I think it would be a nice touch, I'm always happy to have more options for customization

Wait, why does the battery indicator read"full and plugged in", when there's clearly no wires attached?

OK for those of you who haven't been here long. That is because the Phone is running an early leak of software. It is showing the user's PINs in the corners. Obviously - this particular user is concerned about someone identifying their phone.

BBOS had this ability (themes or theming). And it seems like it may be among those things Chen is thinking of bringing back.

Even if it is a fake, it's a good one

    @OP

So this friend of yours...did they say this was 10.3 internal testing or something? Or did they say anything more to you that you can share with us?

It definitely looks to be on the os there, but could also be a screenshot of just a fake picture or something...

Basically what I am wondering is did your friend say that they are testing out theme packages or anything like that? Or is this something BBRY is looking at as their default app icons for 10.3?

I believe developers can install their own versions of apps with their own icons.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but assuming that I was a developer, and had a developer signing key, couldn't I do something like take the Facebook bar file for example, change the logos out for new ones, resign them and install with new logo?

If I did it for all apps, or just the ones I wanted, I would have this.

The pain would be every time an app updates, I would have to get the bar file, and swap out the icons again.

    Right?

Nop you can't change the icons they are embedded in the bar. file

Maybe improved version of BlackBerry themes from @s4bb?

It was his secondary phone I took the shot while he was sleeping.
As soon as he realized that we got interested in the os he hid it away from us.
So I can't really say what is or was just got this shot of it and thought it would be worth sharing with you

Is he a developer? Or does your friend work at BlackBerry? I truly want to believe this as it would be amazing to open themes up to 3rd party developers, but unless there is more information this really must be taken with a huge grain of salt.

Really appreciate you sharing this with us though...any more information based on whether he is a developer or bb employee would be great.

Just something I threw together in 15 minutes...not saying its not real what you posted, but until more information comes out, things can be made using various programs.

Have to admit, I threw that together quickly but I do like the circle app icons with white objects inside...with a black stroke around the edges, it could be used without any clashes no matter what wallpaper is used.

Big chance it's real. Have you guys seens Apollo's posts in the 10.3 thread lately? he's got all custom icons on his 10.3.0.140. It's possible. he's laid out steps on how to do it as well.

This has nothing to do with 10.3. You can use DocuShortcut from BlackBerry World to make shortcuts for every native pre-installed app with custom icons and text, you just have to hide the originals in a folder on page two. For android apps you'll have to edit the apks with custom icons (google APK Editor).
