    I am in canada.

I have area code set to 999 in my smart dialing. Not using the office extension part.
National number length is set 10. Country code is Canada +1.

If I dial 123-4567, I would like it to prefix 999 in front of it. But if I dial a 7 digit number I just get a carrier error message saying I need to dial the 10 digit number. Phone just shows me dialing 7.

It is either dialing just the 7, or it is dialing 11 digit (1-999-123-4567) number I am guessing instead of the 10 digit I need.

Is there a way to make this work?

I can guarantee you there is no area code of 999 in Canada. For that matter I was not able to locate "999" as any valid dialing code in the world. Closest I found was "998" I think. BB no doubt is ignoring it. Incidentally Smart Dialing is only for the country code, the area code is not prepended at all. So if you try and dial "9991234567" using your codes, it will fail. Be glad that it just tells you to dial 10 digits.
