Some of you may remember my renderings from Early 2013 of the BlackBerry P'9983. Living in Waterloo has it's perks when it comes to leaks, and I've been informed on good authority that my designs are extremely similar to the final designs. Obviously it is a smaller brother to the P'9982 in design form. Especially the rear of the device.

After digging was done by the community in OS 10.3, specs surfaced for the Porsche Design P'9983 (SQK100)

    -3.1" 720x720 OLED

    -QWERTY

    -1.5 GHz dual-core Adreno 225

    -8MP Rear, 2MP Front Cameras

    -HDMI, Micro-USB

Again, I posted my renderings for the full effect.

...assuming it even is a Porsche Design device. Everything is an uncertainty until it happens.

Anyway, for once, I like a concept. Pretty believable.

It's nice but isn't it better at this point just update the software on the P9981?

    You can't put BB10 on a BB7 device.

Hmmmm 'WANT' is the right word to use here I think.

Is that a different chip than the current Q10?

In the consumer world who pays the retail pricing for a Blackberry with a Porsche cover that still has keys TOO close together...the sleekness of these designs with segregated buttons as BB standard at affordable pricing would sell en mass...but no BB are still plowing cash in stupid places whilst it seeks to seal the hole in the hull...

They've never lost money on these because of its low supply and extremely high margins.

I just think the specs need to be upgraded as well to warrant the variance in price, same would apply to P9982, space is not sufficient to justify the difference.

Processor speed, special apps maybe to the PD etc....

BlackBerry AFAIK made gobbles of money on the P'9981. These things are surprisingly a cash cow and upgrading the specs will do nothing to sell more of them IMO. BB should put the best specs possible on the existing "normal" consumer models and just continue marketing and selling these as premium "designer" phones and they will continue to be bought up by the wealthy.

Of course, the Porsche series provides maximum profit for minimum effort.

Low supply *in the context you gave it* means a greater loss than there could have been.

Porsche editions of BB smartphones should be given priority & made with frontier-pushing patent-pending specs like 55 MP stereoscopic 3D camera, Miracast display, 4K video, 60 fps, Dolby Digital+ sound, 1,000 PPI display, native print over Wi-Fi 802.11ac, USB 3, 1 TB Flash storage, horse leather, SNMP protocol,...

After all, it's limited edition. Money is not a factor.
