I don't understand what the deal is with the whole 4G LTE. The offer on the blackberry site for 499 is tempting.

What is it exactly that is not going to work on the z30 me being on AT&T?

    Thanks

The model being sold on the BlackBerry site is the STA100-5. It does not have the main AT&T LTE band. It can only get AT&T LTE in places where LTE has deployed band 4. The STA100-5 works perfectly with T-Mobile. It gets LTE without a problem (provided that you are in a LTE coverage area.)

I'm in Dallas, how do I know if Att has the LTE band 4? Any way to find out?

I couldn't find anything online when I was looking to see what LTE band AT&T uses in San Antonio. Instead, I had to use the Signal app to see what LTE bands my Z10 from AT&T gets compared to the ones my STA100-5 Z30 gets. The LTE band here is 17 (which, from reading the forums, sounds like the common AT&T LTE band). So, no LTE for me but the regular 4G speed feels just fine.

Down load "Signal" from bbw and it will show you all the bands and frequencies available.

Check out Signal in BlackBerry World! You can find it at http://appworld.blackberry.com/webst...ntent/21867724

The Signal app will not really help. It will show you what bands your phone is capable of but not the band's that your phone is using or connected to. I have a STA100-5 on AT&T and am getting LTE in south Texas, but the land is flat with only a few building over 5 stories tall. They are likely using the 1700Mhz band 4 here where in Dallas they likely are using the 700Mhz band 17 because it is able to penetrate through buildings better.

That's right...the Signal app will only show what bands your device supports. You'll need to find a friend with an AT&T BB10 device to test it out to see what's available in Dallas.

Manonthemoon - where in south TX have you found LTE for the STA100-5? I'm curious.

I live in Mission, Texas. The area is called the Rio Grande Valley. I will likely be flying through Dallas in the coming weeks and could then see what I pick up in Big D!

I have been following that one as well. Someone has asked about Houston, but so far no one has replied either way. Thanks anyway : )
