So a few days ago, I changed the sync settings on 3 of my email accounts to 5 minutes, the lowest possible. I soon noticed my battery life was markedly worse and drained A LOT quicker. after just 9 hours, most of it on standy/sleepmode mind you, it was under 20%. My question is, is there any correlation between the two? Seems unexpected to me, that something as simple as checking/syncing an email every 5 minutes could be so detrimental to battery life... anyone have anymore suggestions? Thanks guys!

Yes what you've experienced is to be expected. Syncing email accounts regularly drains the battery faster.

If you are running OS 10.2.1 you can see what's using up the most battery from the Device Manager in Settings. Look for PIM Services, which is what handles the email accounts.
