OK, my curve did this also. I just got my Bold the other day and it started doing this today. When I answer a call it is on speaker phone and after about 4-5 seconds it switches to the normal speaker. Does anyone know what is causing this as it is very annoying.

Are you pulling it out of its holster to answer it? If so and it was sleeping you might want to check auto answer settings in the phone menu.

Having the exact same issue on my Verizon 8330. Started immediately after upgrading from 4.3 to the Verizon official 4.5.
100% of the time when I answer a call, the audio plays over the speaker for the first 2-3 seconds of the call.

I learned something today -- the s key turns on the speaker phone. Is it possible you are accidently hitting it with your chin. (Guess how I learned about it )

Mine is doing this too. I just upgraded to 4.5 as well on my 8320. It's infuriating because I'd like to keep my hearing.

Did any of the 83xx Curve users notice this is the Bold message board? Duhhhh...

Oh, and with all the users reporting this just after upgrading it looks like it might be a bug with 4.5 - a search in the Curve forum might provide the answer.

Wow, this is a pretty commonly occurring problem for many of the Bold users I see, your phone is covered by warranty

The problem on the curves might be an os bug.
For all we know, it might be totally unrelated to the OP's problem
OP, try pulling the battery and observe
If the problem persists, post back and we can take it from there

Now that you mention it, this happened to me as well, once. It was right after I bought the phone, and if memory serves, I was connected via Bluetooth to my computer at the time. (Stereo Audio.)

I don't know if that had something to do with it or not, but it has not happened since.

Mine did this right out of the box since new a 4tnight ago. Battery Pull sorted it out straight away. Also had no ring tones set up, even though on normal profile.
