Whenever I try to use the quick search to get information from my BlackBerry it doesn't give me the option to use the browser app. When I initially got the phone, it used to work but after some updates, I can't find it anymore? Any solutions?

You're right! You'd think that would be an obvious quick menu for BlackBerry to have implemented

The next time you do a search pull down from the top and open Settings, check Categories and make sure Browser is checked.

You response is so far over my head I have no idea what you're trying to say.

Does that mean you found it/ or it worked?

It does work, it gives you a list of search engines. How else do you want to search on the browser?

It means blackberry has omitted it from the search options . And all those people showing me how to go about it, thanks but I have tried all of that.

No, I meant, search through the browser. Like typing a word you don't know and having the browser as an option to go through to get the meaning of the word for you.

For example, let's say I'm trying to find the meaning of proxy server. It used to bring up the browser as a search option, so I could quickly find the meaning. It doesn't anymore and I have checked all the required boxes. The more reason why I downloaded the Wikipedia app. Why doesn't Browser option show in Search?-img_20140303_130925.png

If you don't see any providers, it might be linked to your browser, so make sure you have some default search providers set on your browser too.

Otherwise.. I don't know man, works for me on my Z10STL100-3/10.2.1.2141

I had the same issue before. Open your browser, go to settings and clear cookies and cache. Then open universal search again and try. It worked for me.

How do you set a default search engine on your browser? I don't see any option here.

That menu is not in the browser it's in the search.
Honestly I don't know how to get it done otherwise. You may want to call some tech line I suppose.
As you can see though the option should be there

I'm having the exact same problem with having tried all of the obvious options. Did you figure out how to get default browsers?

    Go into the browser.
    Start typing a search :

In the upper right corner click the drop down button :

Why doesn't Browser option show in Search?-img_20140321_061512.png

Select the search engine you want. It will now be your default engine :

The built-in choices for a default search engine are Bing, Google, and Yahoo.

Sorry to answer this a month later, but just saw it right now... Better late than never hopefully.

This is a bug of some OS builds. If you can't get the Browser to show in Search after trying the 3 or 4 ideas above, do this:

    Open Search.
Start typing "parental" and select Parental Controls when it appears.
Toggle it On, then back Off again.
    Exit out, close Search.
Open Search after 5 seconds or so and see if it works now!

That was awesome. It's working now. Thanks. Wonder why I had to take that route tho. Is the parental control on for everyone tho? Or its just me....anyway thanks

Just to add to what I found after doing what Elite said, it will change your settings but going back to turn it off will not only bring your settings back but will also keep the browser in the search feature going on.
