So I've been using BB10 for almost as long as it has been out. I love the OS and it's potential. However it has some short comings that I miss from WP. Don't get me wrong, it's not all OS, some of it is hardware related too. Most notably the camera. There is no argument that Nokia makes the best phones period and they have the best camera that can be found in a phone. That is one of the reasons. I haven't used a regular camera years, so having a high quality camera in my phone is a big deal for me.

Other things I'm missing is the integration of WP into my daily life. I was one of the earliest adopters/proponents of WP7 and it got highly integrated into my life since I had a microsoft account for just about everything.

Most of the software complaints with BB10 are things that I didn't have a problem with in WP which adds to my choosing to go back. 10.2.1 has done a lot, but there still is work to be done and I see BB10 taking off. But probably the two biggest influences in the decision is 1: I'd used WP from the beginning until getting my Q10 the day it became available on AT&T. So I miss my old WP still (probably gonna miss my Q10 too). 2: I can't afford to keep buying a new cell phone every time I get an urge to try something new as I've been doing, nor is it sensible to do so. So this will be my last "new" phone for a long time and I just have more invested into the Windows ecosystem than Blackberry. But, these will be the only two OS I see myself ever using so I will likely do the flip back and forth each time I NEED a new phone. Hopefully by then I'll be more able to afford it. Or, even better, afford to buy a hand set from each. Was thinking about keeping the Q but it is a better thing to use it for a trade, especially since I'm going to do the Next program just to get out of my contract.

P.S. Downloading BBM as soon as it is available.

Good luck. I had a Lumia 800 before my Z10 which I loved dearly. WP also has great potential.

I'll likely only ever choose WP/Nokia and BlackBerry.

OP, windows phone has come a long way and continues to improve. If it is the phone that works best for you and fulfills your needs then go for it.

I've been on windows phone but since getting the Q10 i've been able to get thing done that much faster, especially loving the actions in search and speed dial on a physical keyboard.

Was using an old 9900 today and really loving being able to use my phone one handed with the trackpad, so can't wait for the Q20!

Also I'd say you should try out the physical keyboard after using the touchscreen, because I love not having to look at my phone to be able to type out messages!

One of the main things keeping me away from windows phone in the past was how plain and boring it looked, especially the home screen.

Looking at some of the leaked images of WP 8.1, I'm starting to change my mind on that. Some great visual upgrades, and maybe most importantly (for me) you can now have a wallpaper on your homescreen, and it integrates nicely with the live tiles.

I have a lumia 521 from t-mobile. I'm only waiting for the bill cycle to end. After that my z10 will be my daily driver. I like z10 better than lumia. Ever since I got it I still haven't put it down. Just buy a used phone preferably on gsm prepaid so that you can afford having 2 phones.

I would wait for 8.1 before switching. I like the WP platform but BB10 is feature rich and so well done that I don't see myself going back to wp anytime soon.

I kinda like the WP. Would be a nice match with my Win 8.1 laptop. Not too mention with a tablet winning the same platform. It all depends on what you need I guess. At least you can say you gave it the old college try

Can't get a Z30, I'm on at&t. I left Verizon for T-Mobile and have no plans on ever returning due to some very poor treatment. Had to switch from T-Mo to at&t because I moved.

I plan on waiting until 8.1 because I want to see what phones come out. At this point the 1520 is just WAY too big. But it is the only phone that, spec wise, seems to be future proof for the foreseeable future. Not going out tomorrow and getting a new phone, so who knows what will happen.

I agree! I'd prefer to have a specialised device for each task rather than relying on something that can half do everything!

A smartphone can't replace the optics of an SLR

And that's why I've landed on BlackBerry for my daily driver, no device does communication like a BlackBerry. Simple things like network coverage and battery life are really the most important things, but efficiency and security really make me love BlackBerry!

The problem I find is they are both good platforms, but they are good at different things. BB is the communicator, WP is the work phone. I like WP for the easy integration with Office products, and especially OneNote. But I find myself wishing it worked as well as my Z30 when it comes time to talk to people. So you won't go wrong with either, as long as you look at what you mostly do.

I did try to get OneNote working on the Z30 with no luck - it never makes connection to the host. Which would have made the phone perfect No, I don't like Evernote.

Yeah Nokia WP is not bad, my kid brother has the Lumia 920 and I really like the OS. Just can't stand the "brickness" of the phone! Mainly because I put my phone in my front pocket, I've been waiting for Nokia that has a slimmer profile, doesn't look like its going to happen......

During that stretch of time that BlackBerry was supposed to be "up for sale" and expected their end to be "november" I was crushed and left wondering what to do. I expected fully, as serious as their declarations of sale sounded, for the company to be stripped apart for their patent portfolio and so on. During that time I was due for a new device and considering how very much I despise Google Inc and do not want to deal with the locked down nature of iOS, WP seemed to be the only thing I could go for. It ended up making me a big fan of Windows 8 and I got pretty fond of it. I went back to BlackBerry after all the winds changed direction and they confirmed they were NOT selling off because i've trusted the brand for a long time and I really greatly prefer a real keyboard, but if that hadn't happened that way, i'd still be rocking a WP. It's integration with all of MS's services is just excellent and I say the UI overall screams personality. I couldn't blame anyone for choosing it over BB10 for a daily driver.

I'm in for an upgrade on my contract, which I already had canceled. However my carrier just made a great offer for a Lumia 1020 which is rather tough not to take. Plus my Q10s keyboard is acting up more and more every week with that damn double typing issue.
Most likely I'll at least get the Lumia and keep the Q10 for now. The 1020 has been tempting me due to the camera ever since it has been launched. That camera plus the QWERTY would be kind of a dream phone.

As for Windows Phone, I haven't owned one yet, but played with them rather often. There are still some limits in terms of basic functions. A few things are better compared to BB10, others are worse. Microsoft is working on Windows Phone 8.1 which seems to be quite a huge update once it hits the air. Plus it'll be available for all WP8 devices, which is nice.
On the software side, I'll surely miss the great multitasking and of course the Hub. And the gestures. On the hardware lane, I highly doubt the 1020 can rival the Q10s battery performance. But having said that, ever since 10.2.1 my Q10s battery performance really changed for worse, there is more drain than before. The keyboard will be the biggest loss, but I have kind of enough of that double typing.

Windows Phone really grew in terms of apps and features. It's also growing faster and more steady than BB10 and with 8.1 in the pipeline, the OS should get better.

    Double-typed and posted with a BlackBerry Q10.

The Q10 hasn't been out for a year yet so just back it up and bring back to your carrier. I had the same issue, so brought it back to Vodafone who offered a replacement phone, and ended up giving me a brand new Q10, which was worth the week waiting.

Really appreciated having my Q10 when I was reunited!

Go for it. In case you miss the Hub sometimes, find a similar app in windows phone store or simply grab a BlackBerry.

One more thing: you would need some days to adjust swipe up gesture.

    It's not a phone, it's a ?
