Hey there. How can I get BES10 for my Z10 without a company?

I want s/mime and all other advantages of BES. I saw on the BlackBerry website that a one year license for one device is 15?. What else would I need? My own server? Or is a BlackBerry server included or can I install the software on my home PC?

Thanks for your help in advance!

Thank you. So I'll need my own server. That's not good.

And what's the price going to be approximately? And can I choose my own certificates and encryption keys or is BlackBerry going to have access to all my data if I use their cloud service?

Maybe you can spin up a virtual server via Amazon EC2?

There are, in my opinion, essential things which don't work without. Such as s/mime encryption, some VPN things etc

BlackBerry cloud would make sense for individuals. Pay for a service and avoid investing and maintaining hardware. Really interested is how the beta testing is going and looking forward to try it out.

Yeah, just run a search for Amazon Web Services and Elastic Cloud Computing. You can choose the size of your server and spin it up in no time.

Before you commit to your own server you should consider that BES Express is only available up to BES 5 and doesn't support BB10. For that you will need BES 10 and a client access license. Unless things have changed recently.

Is there no Crackberry article about the possibilities you have as a private BlackBerry user?

So with the whole cloud concept, would one have access to such things as Balance?

Yeah , I think so. The problem is you will still see work and personal emails in both places. Hopefully, BB will change that..

This is very interesting topic. I won't mind finding a "work around" solution to be able to have the "BALANCE" feature on my phones, even if I have to pay an annual subscription fees for "BES" or whatever that will make this happen.

Hi, you do not need your own server.

Many cloud providers offer an e-mail account with Office 365/BES for 10 USD/month (more or less).

I'm sure you find some providers when you google words like "hosted exchange" "blackberry" "bes" etc etc...

E-mails encrypted with your own S/MIME can't be read by your e-mail provider, the same is true for the private section in Balance...and make sure that the administrator sets Balance correctly (in the past BES default settings allowed "private" apps access to contacts of the work space)

You wouldn't. You might see work and personal emails in the Personal space but the work account would be lockable to hide it from view there.

In the Work space you would only see account designated as your Work account. Currently the Work space also excludes SMS texts and BBM.
