I've recently updated my Q10 to 10.2.1.1925 and seems like battery drains faster than before the update......

Is it just me or is there anyone else having the same issue/feeling?

Yeah I've noticed the poor battery life as well. I think it's a 10.2.1 thing

Some claim the battery life is worse. Remember it takes a few days after the update to "settle " and finish "indexing ". During the first few days your phone may run hot and drain the battery quickly. I've been running the leaked for a few weeks and have seen improvement in the battery life over time.

10.2.1 drains more battery compare to 10.2.0 but it still much better than 10.1

I've been on official release 10.2.1 now for a couple of weeks on Z10 STL-1. My battery life prior to the update was dismal. BUT since the update I've noticed that overall my battery last much longer but the first 40% drains rather quickly and the remaining 60% lasts tremendously long. So I'm happy as now I don't feel the need to carry the charger around everywhere I go.

A couple things I just picked up - disable Media Sharing (unless you're actively using it) and I realized that my Box and Dropbox accounts were logged in again with this update - disabled those and yesterday (VERY heavy usage day) I went from 16 hours of life, to 25% remaining after 16 hours (and bedtime). Box is still enabled, but Dropbox seemed to be syncing every hour (looked back at the battery and network usage for it for the previous 48 hours. HUGE difference!

I get almost 2 days with 10.2.1 on my Z10. I don't play games or music or movies. Could it be all the Android apps killing your battery?

Does the fact of having android apps on your phone (not open or being used) have anything to do with drain? I wouldn't think so since the apps aren't actually open. But for me, my drains have been since downloading these apps. Hmm

I too had poor battery life after upgrade to 10.2.1. Then I read the zillions of posts and found 3 things that made a huge difference. I implemented all 3 at once so don't know which one or combination made the difference. The good news is I have gone from about 12-14 hours to 20-24 in heavy days and 36+ on lite days.

Here us what I did based on many suggestions on many posts. It took a ton of time and reading to find all the recommendations but glad I took the time.

1). Turn off BlackBerry Link and only turn on when require. Let's face it, the vast majority of people don't need this on 100% of the time.

2). Turn off sending BlackBerry diagnostics data. I read this one from someone else's post. I did some testing just this weekend and it does impact battery but clearly wasn't the biggest drain of the 3 changes I made.

3). Leave the phone drain the battery totally which will cause it to shutoff. Remove sim and SD card and charge battery in external charger.

Those 3 things I did in conjuction improved my battery left to the best it has ever been. Testing of 2) this weekend leads me to believe 1) and 3) likely contributed more to the significant improvements.

I haven't been streaming media or radio lately and just use for calls, BBM, sms, tons of emails and a few hours on cb a day. I have only 2 email push accounts one EAS (outlook.com) and 1 okay with sync sent to manual. Get all tasks, notes, calendar and email updates in seconds and more often faster than my laptop and desktops.

I only get 3-5 calls a day as I handle most things via some form of electronic messaging be it sms, bbm or email.

I browse the internet and use CB app 2-4 hours a day

This activity may make me an average user but I really don't know.

Just wanted to provide some insights to my typical activity that provides me 32+ hours and even surpassed 40 hours on occasion.

Hope this helps others as I now have the best battery life I have ever had on my Z10 due to 10.2.1 upgrade.

P.s. I have about 40 android apps and use many of them daily and haven't noticed any battery drain. I use the android version of Flipboard from Google play for 1+ hours a day and many other Android apps I have loaded from gplay daily. 10.2.1 with snap has completely closed my app gap. Loving the upgrade.

Good to know. Will give the three things a try, BBjonbo.
I thought maybe having android apps downloaded and not running at all nor open, has killed battery. But if you say no, then let's see if options 1-3 work.

    Here's my battery monitor today:

Yip ridiculous. Just pulled z10 off the charger, after doing the steps to try (let drain totally, pull SIM and SD cards and battery, plug in, power button till red LED, leave for ten minutes, insert everything and charge). This is second day in row I've done this.

    Result still :

At this rate, if I don't leave it plugged in overnight, the battery will die before the alarm on the phone goes off in the morn. Lol.

Ya. The battery drains faster with 10.2.1. On the plus side with the 10.2.1, the hub loads faster. Hehehe.

I've just moved from a Z10 to the Q and as far as am concerned the battery life is bloody great compared to the Z10. Don't get me wrong I loved that Z10 but the battery was something terrible, truly terrible.
