Hey everyone, I am formerly an iphone user and never had a problem sending or receiving video messages. But, since i switched to the Z10 whenever i send a video message none of my friends can open the message to view the video. (im talking like 20 second video clips) Maybe I am just missing something? Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks, Austin

Are they iPhone users? I have heard of thus being an issue. I'm not sure if there is a work around.

Are you just sharing the video as it was made via email? Or are you processing it in any way? How are you attaching it? What format is the file they receive? Mp4, mov, etc

Yes they are iPhone users, both 4s and 5s are not able to open video clips sent over mms. When I first got the blackberry in early August I had no problem and now it seems within the last few months they are no longer able to open them. When I send a video they are tagged for example(VID_0000025.mp4) , so I'm not sure if the iPhone is only able to play m4v because of an update or what.

Thanks for the response, seemed like no one else had any interest in this problem.

Missed this, I've attached via the "attach" in an open message, "share", and also "share" via locating the file in file manager.

How to Convert MP4 to The New iPhone 5

It would be fine for the computer, but doesn't really solve the problem for sending videos directly from my z10 to an iPhone.

I don't know anything about mms, but would there be some automatic or inherent format change to send it via mms. Have you tried sending it to them via email?

And, again, ask them what file and extension they are receiving (if they can tell on an iphone). Maybe the format or extension does not transfer appropriately.

It seems to be iPhone issue with the file type. I don't know if you can change the file type for recording or not.

From the link I posted. How BB10 users can change the format I don't know.

MP4 is the right format for iTunes software program and iPhone 5. However, not all MP4 files are created equal. They differ in video resolution, audio codec and video codec etc. Only specific video compression and resolution etc in MP4 files can be imported to iTunes and play very well on the new iPhone 5. So if you come across some MP4 files that fail to play on iPhone 5, you need to recode MP4 video files to iPhone 5.

I guess the OP needs to compare the codecs of the file when "filmed" and then when received to see if they can figure out what needs to be done. Gspot and Media Info can provide that info for comparisons.

It's an iPhone thing. The file works on Android and WP devices, and Windows. The only work around I came up with is uploading to YouTube or maybe Facebook.

It would be nice if apple could use industry standards instead of being propriety.

What are you talking HERESY!!! My friend and I drove over to Sun Valley. Her iphone was losing battery too quickly, so she was nearly panicking as I was asking her to look stuff up. She did not bring a car charger - does an iphone use the now pretty standard micro-usb to charge - of course NOT.

But I don't understand how they are exempt from the European Union mandates that make proprietary charging a SIN!!! Why shouldn't apple be forced to comply?

I don't think it is just an Iphone thing kbz1960. I am also having the same problem now with my Z-10...
I sent a video made with my Z-10 to a couple of Samsung users. All are able to download it, but of the 4 persons, only 2 were able to see and hear it. The other 2, when they opened the video, it would show for a split second then go black, but the audio could still be heard.

Any updated suggestions is much appreciated

It is not hard to find that iPhone (iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus included) does support MP4 as the main input format from Apple official website. But there are strict limitations on the input MP4 format:

H.264 video up to 1080p, 60 frames per second, High Profile level 4.2
    with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats;

MPEG-4 video up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile
with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps per channel, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats.

Unfortunately, MP4 is a container format which can store video, audio and subtitle data. That's why you encounter the issue "can't play MP4 on iPhone"

To solve the issue, you'd better to convert MP4 to iPhone compatible formats with Faasoft Video Converter.

You may also try iDealshare VideoGo which can convert any video format like AVI, MKV, FLV, WebM, WTV, MPG, WMV, MP4, AVCHD, etc to iPhone video format
