How does glympse work?
Does it use BlackBerry maps to locate or does it use its own maps
Reason I ask is its not working in my area (island of cura�ao)
It was the one feature on bbm 2.0 i was looking forward to

It doesn't open BlackBerry Maps though, it seems to open a mapping service visually similar to BlackBerry Maps. Might still be worth a go.

Same here, Glympse worked one time yesterday and stopped working probably it relies on Glympse infrastructure/maps, if that's the case then the number of users jump to few extra millions yesterday and that blow up their infrastructure, shame on BlackBerry if that's the case, easy issue to predict.

Glympse worked once last nite and today the background map isn't showing it. when you try sending it nothing happens. I guess the background map has to load up first. It probably seems that that either bb network is choked or glympse's. Either way, it is a shame. It kills the excitement that bb so desperately needs but this bunch is not market oriented.

For me too, worked last night, ain't working now, I think we crashed the Glympse servers with the traffic, they didn't anticipate!

It doesn't work for me (Germany) either... on BB10 it doesn't load the map at all - so no "update" button either, on iOS it loads the map, but the button is still greyed-out. Probably Glympse couldn't hold the load of all the BBM users...

Curious...though Glympse is just a feature they added. it will use the native map service on each device. It doesn't depend on any Glympse servers.

sure about that? when I shared my position with someone on an earlier bbm-version, they got a link to a glympse webpage to watch my position there.

When I open the native BB Maps app, it does recognize my location and shows the map accordingly. In BBM, it doesn't, even if the location services icon appears on top of the screen - so I guess there's indeed an external service that doesn't work, probably in BBM or Glympse.

Works 100% perfect for me. I (from my BlackBerry) sent my location to my girlfriend (on Android) set for a half hour, so she could see when I left my house and see where I was driving to her house. It opened up its own map built into BBM (not a website, not her Android maps), and she could watch me traveling, knew when I stopped at lights, knew what streets I was passing. Worked flawless. When I got to her house I looked at her phone and was impressed by the UI. Had a nice map with my BBM name overlayed. Looked nice.

Swiped on a beautiful AMOLED BlackBerry 10.

When you send your glympse location it send a link to the other person. this links opens their site which uses Google Maps, you can see the google maps copyright info on the bottom left. did nobody notice that? so yes it works in most parts of the world. Could be you are under a building or so which is not able to locate.
