I'm using Z30STA100-3/10.2.1.1925 and never had this issue before. Started last week. Sometimes it will scan for hours. If I reboot it will simply scan some more after it boots up. So now my files like music, pics, videos etc can't be viewed or used at all. Any info or help?
I took a screenshot to attach to this thread and this crappy phone dims as if it's gonna open the file explorer then cancels itself out. So I can't even send anyone any pics even if they are on device. Im soo tempted to smash this thing and report it stolen through insurance. Patience is running lower and lower

Mine did that twice. I held power button down until reboot screen and it's been fine since.

Try to back everything up on a computer then after your data is secured format the card on your phone.
On the options hit "erase media card" then "format media card".
    Hopefully this fixes the issue

I tried rebooting by holding volume up/down keys and it's still scanning. Even pulled card out and put it back in. I'm really not trying to reformat my card (again). I just got this card about 2 months ago and had to reformat on day 1 because I had over 10 gigs of "other data" on my card. I just don't understand what the problem is

UPDATE: so I followed someone's advice above (can't remember username) and rebooted by holding down the power button and it worked. I have my pictures back. I appreciate everyone's Intel. I'm gonna post a few pics to show the frustration I went through

You know what, I have never rebooted using the volume buttons until just a few days ago. After doing so my phone scanned my media card 2 or 3 times, very slow, very frustrating. It continued until I did a reboot holding the power button....

Hmm....I just realized this. I wonder if this is the issue?

This POS did it again. This time it happened after unplugging it from my PC. I was transferring a few files to my PC through mass storage mode and after I unplugged it even 30 mins later it STILL said it was scanning. Now what? I have to reboot?? This is ridiculous with this phone

Guess what...my Z30 is doing it. I've rebooted, power button and volume buttons. I'm about to do a battery pull...ya, I know, Z30 doesn't have a removable battery but it's about to. Smdh.

Ok, I finally found a solution to this. Take media card out. Reboot device. Once fully rebooted, insert card and it works.

Thanx for advice. Remove media card; reboot; then replace media card.
Worked perfectly fo me --- still using Blackberry 8110 !!

I've actually had this happen a bunch of times with my micro SD card. I've done all the different resets and it doesn't seem to make any difference. It just seems to be luck that it hasn't done it the last two days.
I've used 4 different cards and all gave me issues.

I've been having issues with this as well (see http://forums.crackberry.com/showthread.php?t=921594).

Often, it seems to occur when disconnecting my device from my PC while using "USB Mass Storage Mode." I'm not sure that's entirely related to the cause, but it wouldn't be the first time that Windows hasn't fully "ejected" an external storage device and caused issues with it.
That being said, it's occurred on its own as well, apparently at random, after working for days. I'm using a 64GB SanDisk Class 10 SDXC, and I know that they manufactured some faulty models, so I'm hoping that's not the case.
I've restarted my device about nine times this morning using both the power and volume buttons, and I've inserted and removed the card, following the strategies posted here and other insert / remove / restart combinations to no avail this time. I'm really hoping I don't have to reformat.
Anyways, I'll update with notice of any success or lack thereof, and I'll post a link to this thread in mine, so we can consolidate responses and hopefully figure this out.
    Good luck all around!

I just had this problem as well. I tried rebooting and reinserting the card in various ways. Nothing worked. Then I did a hard reboot and it all seems to have returned.

I also noticed something else last night, though... when I plugged in my phone it didn't charge. The lightning bolt icon didn't come on. I tried a different charger, same thing. Then I rebooted and it started charging okay. It was this morning when the SD card issue popped up... Just wondering if there might be a connection?

Does everyone with this issue have a 64gb card? Curious as I have 32gb one and have never seen this with any kind of reboot. Maybe only an issue with 64gb?

Good question. Mine is a 64gb card. No issues for quite a while now with mine.

I took it out, restarted, inserted and no issues since.
