If your work/life depends on phone battery, don't update. My q5 on the 10.2.0.424 used to easily last the whole day starting at 630am with
    One hour of Sports tracker
One hour of music during the same time.
Personal and business calls, whatsapp msgs, bbms, etc etc etc.
After the update, my phone has run for about a week, and for example today @ 1040am I am already down to 67%.
New update 10.2.1.537 draining battery faster than before-img_20140203_105717.png

My screen brightness is @ about 30%. The location service is switched off as soon as I am finished using sports tracker, and so in the music.

Compared to my BlackBerry 9900 battery, the q5 take longer to recharge.

I'm experiencing exactly the same with my Z10. For the functionalities I love the update, but my battery capacity went down enormously: With the same use as before I have to recharge before 15:00 (3 pm), whereas before the update I only recharged my Z10 overnight :-(

I've also noticed much faster battery drain when the phone is in use. I'm trying to figure out if there is a way to solve it.

    Hi,
I too noticed it was draining the battery faster than earlier. However, my Q5 seems to have settled now after approx 5-6 days of updates. I am not sure why takes it so long to optimize battery consumption but my phone's battery usage seems to have returned to the earlier levels... I am still keeping a watch on it though!

I drained the battery to a zero with the torch turned on,ie discharged the phone battery to nil and then left it to charge over night. Woke up with the phone charged to 96% only. Should have been 100% charged, but wasn't.

I have been having the same issue. Have reset and tried battery pull, will see what happens. I also have an issue with stuff running a lot slower when the android runtime has been used. Could the two be connected?

Are most or all of you downloading android apps? That is most likely the cause as that the biggest change from 10.2 to 10.2.1

yes I noticed Android apps like Amazon app store, Netflix and Bitstrips drain battery faster if they are open in the background. I make sure they are shut down to maintain battery life.

I got my Q5 the day 10.2.1 was released (for real) so I have no baseline for comparison, but a week later and the battery seems significantly better than it did on day 1. Had a similar issue with my Z10 when I installed the 10.2.1.1925 leak: it took longer than usual to settle in, and I'm not sure why it needs that long.

I've noticed that you have Shazam installed. That's an Android application, correct? I recommend that you delete it and replace it with Soundhound, which is in BBWorld. Also, delete any other Android apps you don't need. They MIGHT be the ones causing the problem. If that doesn't work, restore your software.

But as said before, try letting it set in. I noticed that when I got my Q10 I wanted to use it 24/7 and it kept getting really hot and the battery was draining. Eventually it got better. Either it settled in or I just stopped using it for as long as I usually did.

Turning off Active Swipe: If you swipe down to get the quick menu (where you turn wifi on/off) and select 'Brightness' you can turn off 'Swipe to Wake'. This stops the phone from keeping the screen active when the phone is asleep. You need to then click the top button before swiping up to wake the phone but becomes automatic muscle-memory in a day. Saves a lot of battery.

Active swipe is the feature that let's you operate the swipe from down feature that unlocks the Phone. Some are of the opinion that the phone saves battery if this feature is kept off. You can find it in the adjust brightness option of the quick settings feature (swipe from top) of your bbq5/q10)
