What is the best player to play MKV videos?

are there any limitations, i.e. no AC3, AAC or any other sound?

i'm feeling deja vu. the BB10 media player is sufficient enough, IMHO.

It supports these formats:
3GP, 3GP2, M4A, M4V, MOV, MP4, MKV, MPEG-4, AVI, ASF, WMV, WMA, MP3, MKA, AAC, AMR, F4V, WAV, MP2PS, MP2TS, AWB, OGG, FLAC

and these codecs:
H.264, MPEG-4, H.263, AAC-LC, AAC+, eAAC, MP3, PCM, Xvid, AMR-NB, WMA 9/10, WMA10 professional, WMA-LL, VC-1, VP6, SPARK, PCM, MPEG-2, MJPEG (mov), AC-3, AMR-WB, QCELP, FLAC, VORBIS

AC-3 Support was removed and then readded to z10 only. Not supported on q5/10. Pretty positive not on z30 either. And I think since has been removed from z10 again.

This was all do to licensing issues with dolby. They never corrected the docs though.

My daughter uses kalemsoft on her PlayBook. It supports everything. It has a bb10 version as well.

If I use mx or vlc player from android, video plays no problem.

I even bought the aurora player... the same - cannot play...

They is a small free program for windows. I think it's called "mediainfo". It will open a video file. Mp4, mkv, avi. And tell you the details inside. Chances are that mkv has ac3 audio. And as I mentioned above. Bb10 doesn't support ac3. And spits out that exact error.

If you took that same file and ran through a video editor. Changed just the audio to aac. It would play.
