I am getting a new off contract Q10 today, its my first Blackberry since the Curve 8530. I am switching from a Galaxy S3. Part of the reason I am switching is because I missed having a keyboard and strong productivity. I hate trying to be productive on an all touch screen surface. I know that Blackberry World is kinda limited on Apps but I read somewhere that you can run Android applications on BBOS10. What Android Runtime environment is the Q10 currently using, Gingerbread or Jelly Bean? Also, does anyone know if the Amazon Appstore will run on the device, its a great way to get some apps from a known source. Any tips and suggestions on how to use my new device would be appreciated.

Don't think it will. But rumor has it we might be getting Google Playstore soon!

Hope you enjoy your Q10 when you get it, had mine since May 2013 and still learning and think it's fun to use!

If you load a leak you will probably be able to find all the apps you want. Load snap and one of the stores and You should be good to go.

Search the forum and you will get all the answers you need. IMO, Q10 is the best device.

The Q10 features Gingerbread Android Runtime on 10.2.1, if you choose to upgrade from 10.1.2. I'm unsure about the Amazon Appstore, but I doubt it is supported. I love my Q10, and I love it even more after recently upgrading to 10.2.1 via CrackBerry's short and helpful guides:

Hope you enjoy your Q10, it hasn't disappointed me yet!

I've also been interested in a Q10 myself (currently have a Z10). Let me know if you discover any problems with side loaded apps due to the 1:1 scale

Got mine in May. Loading leaks since!!! I am just about positive... but someone will correct me if I'm wrong but I haven't run into any app that someone has not got to work on the Q. Between BlackBerry World, Snap, 1mobile, and I guess now converting apk to bar to sideload with a debug token is like "old school" and not really necessary in most cases now...Once you get your Q, load that .1925 leak & sideload Snap. From there, it would just be easier for you to know what apps you are going to utilize and browse the forums... someone here has got it to work. Goodluck and welcome back!

Edit: I do have the Amazon app store running well on mine.

Thanks, I hope I like it. I got a good deal on ebay for it. Wasn't wanting to shell out almost $500 for it.

I plan on side loading a lot of applications if I can't get them from App World. Everyone seems to have pretty good luck with them side loads from what I have read.

That is good to know. Is 10.2.1.195 the latest official release? Is there another version that will be released soon?

If you are considering a q10, I strongly suggest it. Yes, it is true that the apps are limited. However, that is just one aspects all blackberry users have to deal with. I personally love the q10 because it allows me to be super productive with not only scheduling but replying to emails, messages and etc. Just make sure entertainment is not an area you strongly desire because q10 does not provide much entertainment. It is more than qualified in all others requisites of a top smartphone.

Productivity and communication are the main uses of my phone, for entertainment purposes I have a Kindle Fire HDX that is just awesome for movies and TV shows.

What happens to apps when they don't support that resolution? I mean most Android also apps are for widescreen. Almost all apps in Amazon are. Just curious.
