Just got a BlackBerry 9900 JM-1 battery from. Ebay it cost me 5 pounds. Is the hologram meant to be a stick on sticker rather than embedded in the label.
Battery life seems ok so far. Have removed facebook and twitter and switched to 2g only.

So far, every hologram on a BB that I've seen was a part of the label itself.

Hi I have just bought a second hand Bold 9900 to try BBOS, (first Blackberry phone a Z10),wanted a couple of spare batteries, Found a supplier with genuine batteries ?, matched the original exactly,
But the original which came with the Bold, cell made in Korea and processed in china, the new ones, cell made in Japan processed in Mexico, Every thing identical including hologram, which is genuine?, so far the new ones hold their charge
And last longer than the original battery, finding replacement batteries for older phones can be a lottery,
Price does not mean it will be genuine some high price fakes about,

The gold JM1 is not OEM, just a replacement. It does seem (at least for me) to have a slightly longer life than the OEM one.

Batteries were made and processed in different countries from day one.

In the early days after the release of the 9900 when there were concerns over battery life there was a lot of debate over which source gave better battery life.

Country of manufacture/processing does not mean that the battery is not genuine.

Absolutely agree. The right one is the fake. I have just bought it a week ago on eBay. And the battery discharges faster than two years old original one.

Went to a shop and tried to buy another the first battery I was offered was a fake. Then the shopkeeper produced a genuine one. Which I bought.
