Hello, im a new CB user. I got a Z10 for christmas and i need help finding a plan. As most Canadians would know, mobile companies suck here. If somebody would tell me where i can get a good plan for under 30$ that includes data, and is compatible with a Z10, that would be amazing.

In the past i had a bold 9900 and i used rogers pre-paid talk-text-internet 30 plan for BB smartphones. i recently learned that the data on that plan was not applicable to a Z10's 4g LTE speeds. I have been shopping around, i dont mind if the plan is on a contract, but i just would like the max to be 30$

    Thanks,
    Alex

EDIT: Wind Mobile is in Roaming for my area (Elmira, ON)

EDIT: Rogers blocks data service to my phone currently

EDIT: i had a BB7 plan for my bold, (compresses data) and now sinze the Z10 doesnt compress, it doesnt work.

Good luck! I have $25/month without data because I don't think it's necessary and it's through a company plan.

My advice to you would be, transfer the old SIM to a Micro SIM and just plug it in your Z10 and see what happens. Sometimes companies want you to change plans when there is nothing wrong with the old. Think of up sell.

If what Blackjack suggests doesn't work, I'm now using Virgin Mobile bottom silver plan. $30 a month with a 10% discount if you bring your own phone. Data is billed on a graduated scale, so it will likely be something over $30 depending on your data use, but you do get LTE.

Try Wind Mobile. They are good with unlimited data and unlimited calling + texts. However, the unlimited coverage is a bit limited. No term contract as well.

Teh link spam below. I hope they help.

Ya if you're in a wind area it's a no brainer, $30 for unlimited everything. Unfortunately they don't have any towers in my area yet

If you are in their partner coverage, it counts as roaming.

Wind is a great option if you spend most of your time in a area where they have their own network. If you're like me and spend most of the time outside urban centres then it isn't such a good option.

I should add that before going with Virgin I was on Rogers PAYG using the 500MB for $25 per month. That was actually a pretty good plan for me, though as you say you don't get LTE on that plan.

Good luck with your search. Let us know what you finally decide on.

Richard, I found a new plan at Virgin Mobile

35$ for what I had at rogers, with better call time

Im unsure if it is 4g though, so I need to see if it is

If it is, then yay! Otherwise, darn

Wind Mobile $30 a month. I've been with WIND for a few years now and am pretty satisfied overall. Unlimited data is a must for me, and don't want to pay $100 month, which is why WIND is good at $30/ $40 depending on your plan needs

It's unfortunate that Wind zone is outside your area. So now the moderate inexpensive choices that I know would be:

    *Koodo
    $40
    400 Canada wide minutes
    400mb
    Unlimited texts
10% off when you bring unlocked
    https://shop.koodomobile.com/plans/plans/index.html

    *Fido
    $39
    400 Canada wide minutes
    400mb
    Unlimited texts
    Unknown if unlocked discount applies
    http://www.fido.ca/web/page/portal/F...lyPlans/Group1

    *Virgin Mobile
    $39 silver plan
    400 Canada wide minutes
    400mb
    Unlimited texts
    Unknown if unlocked discount applies
    http://www.virginmobile.ca/en/plans/...l?itcid=TAB:32

*Speakout (it is an option. Speakout uses rogers connection. It is not LTE.might be 3g)
Prepaid. Value packs for $20+ with 100mb+ for $10)
    Attachment 234175
    http://www.speakout7eleven.ca/prepai...es#value-plans

And that's it. Basically, the carriers are all the same.

I'm usually between Hamilton, Toronto and Niagara so WIND works well for me. K-W, Guelph and Cambridge seems to be almost there soon too. $30/mnth- Unlimited Data, unlimited provincial calling, unlimited texting. $40 unlimited data, Canada wide calling /txt.

Definitely makes it tougher in Elmira, as it is just barely within the wind coverage areas.

I too live just outside the area near Hamilton , however use wifi for Internet and bbm while at home. The rest of the time I'm within the coverage area at work / restaurants etc.. you can also throw an extra $10 card on for messaging in wind away. I'd definitely see if it is an option for you as it offers the most value, and for me unlimited Internet is a MUST...but if not, Telus, Rogers, and Bell might be your only other options. Problem is you get very LITTLE data from them for $40-$50 a month.
