    Is that true?

Guess that depends on which Samsung, or what you need in a camera.

If you go to gsmarena and look at their camera comparison page you can compare the Z10 camera to those on different phones

Well the Z10 camera is decent enough for me (not really a important factor while buying). Not the best nor the worst
I'd say this link pretty much sums it up for a review http://www.techradar.com/reviews/pho...28348/review/6

On another note, if the camera is really important, I'd say you should tell her to check out the Lumias too. Best cameras imo

Grab two phones and let her compare with own eyes.

    Sammy S4:

Both cameras produce good (for a smartphone) pictures.

I have a Z10 and Note 2, where the latter should produce the same image results as an S3. Under good lighting, the difference is quite minimal. In poor lighting, the Samsung does much better by quite a margin. Also, in the default camere app, Samsung has more settings to play around with.

However if your main concern is camera, get a Lumia 920/925 instead.

I'm a pro photographer. If your main concern is taking lots of nice pictures of your kids, get a CAMERA. Cellphone cameras take decent pictures but won't compare to even a low end point and shoot. And prices have dropped so much on those.

Tip: to take good pictures in low light with the Z10, use night mode and no flash.

I'm a bit of a shutterbug and a former Samsung S4 user. The Z10 camera is just as good as the S4 once you learn your way around it. But you need a real camera to be a serious photographer. Physically, camera phones just can't get the job done. You need a big lens and raw output.

Do you guys think the low light troubles can be fixed with software. Or is it really just the hardware.

If her smartphone purchase is based on the quality of the camera in order to take pictures of kids, then there is no doubt in my mind she should be going for a BlackBerry. Any of the BlackBerry 10 devices should be right up there.

Why you ask? Two words, Time Shift! Sure you might be able to find an app that can do the same thing on iOS or Android but this feature is baked into the OS on BB10 and in IMO, is the best feature of any smartphone camera on the market today. Especially for capturing the little ones that almost never stay still for a picture :|.

Merry Christmas Everyone here's an HDR I took just today.

The Z10 camera is really good for a phone. Samsung & Apple cameras are also really good. I've been in situations where the Z10 camera took the best picture & other situations where the others had the best photo. It all depends on the thousand factors surrounding the shot.

The BB10 cameras have basically caught up with the competition in terms of picture quality (time shift is nice but not unique). Anyone who trashes BB10 cameras are probably unaware & are comparing it to the legacy BlackBerry device cameras (which were rubbish by today's standards).

No doubt that a recent Samsung device would have a better camera than the Z10, but the Z10's camera is not so bad itself.

As long as you don't just whip out your phone, and take the most blurry, moving photos, you'd hardly be able to tell the difference.

First, please don't get me wrong, the Z10 camera is great for a phone! I use it a lot myself

But for much petter family pictures get a point and shoot and learn how to use it. Today most are good, but if you want to be sure, stick with one of the big name photography brands like Nikon or Canon. There are others of course. In the $200 range the differences are mostly personal preference, like the way it feels, handles, option menus, etc. Go try them and pick one that feels intuitive to you.
