    LULZ.

I dare to bet that the "cheap plastic" would be from Malaysia and Indonesia, and probably made there as well if Foxconn imported the highly protected trade secret injection-moulding process into the factory in Indonesia.

but definitely not from bins alright.

Electronic components from 2010 and a reduced BlackBerry OS 10 only providing social media (FaceBook, Twitter, BlackBerry Messenger), email and web browsing all accessible via BlackBerry Hub. In other words no applications. I doubt the latest BlackBerry Android Subsystem could possibly run reliably within 1GB RAM. Production runs will be limited to batches of one thousand devices to reduce inventory overhead and future accounting write-downs by Foxconn. BlackBerry is making a grave error in judgement in not simply reducing the price of the BlackBerry Q5 to USD250.00 off-contract and adding a configurable option for BIS-like service (data compression primarily) just as we currently have with WiFi versus carrier network. There is absolutely no rationale for a smartphone with lower hardware specifications than the BlackBerry Q5. BlackBerry could have offered this to emerging markets and developed nations alike by early (January or February) 2014 using existing inventory as well as pushing out the appropriate software update(s) to in-use BlackBerry Q5 smartphones as a trial and pushed these updates to all other BlackBerry 10 smartphones. A monthly subscription fee of USD5.00 on a pay-as-you-go basis for access to the BIS-type service since most users prefer their high-speed 4G and LTE connectivity but travellers and users in the emerging markets were drawn to BlackBerry because of the data savings afforded by traditional BIS. Imagine a revenue stream of 10 million subscribers paying USD5.00 each month of use? That is USD50 million dollars monthly only taking a percentage of users in the emerging markets and a small percentage of legacy users moving to a BlackBerry 10 smartphone.

No BIS because the contracts they made with the carriers 10 years ago end and the carriers will not sign new ones for BB10 phones when they are similar to Iphones and Androids and the carriers don't pay google or Apple just to use their servers(BIS).

Well...Jakarta is mostly made up of some ground, roads, buildings and people (about 10 million of them).

Anyway, I'm pretty sure it will be similar to Caf:

    C SERIES (Caf)
    STB100 - Touch - 4.5" 720p LCD
    MSM8930/MSM8230 - 1.2 GHz dual-core Krait 200 - Adreno 305
    5MP camera (=Q5) - 802.11n Wifi (Qualcomm)
    Sensors: Accel
    FM radio

Target price, most likely around $150.

Caf and Kopi were possibly cancelled because an arrangement between BB and Foxconn were already underways when we were told those devices were cancelled possibly to have them produced for less so they can sell for less.

To all those people that think the Foxconn phone will have lower specs than Q5, just consider that Foxconn can make an equivalent to the Q5 at a much cheaper prize. So whatever phone they make, it may not be as low grade specs as you may think. The whole point of Foxconn is to leverage their supply routes and manufacturing efficiencies.

    Let's go now

It seems a weird question. but how can they make a cheaper touch phone profitable, if the Z10, with more premium finish, is selling at what, around 200$ these days?

I can't answer for the North American market, but I can break things down for you how Chinese made pbones have flooded the low cost market here. However, the more I think about. this the eerie feeling I have is that BlackBerry is also heading towards the same direction.

    1.Price per number bragging rights.
Take a product like high end samsung. pitch product, focus on near same performance, and then the price. Highlight the major price difference.

    2 Alternatice plans for phones.
Some telcos here are giving out BIS style packages, minus the security layer and the compression. Then pair the phones to these low end package. Sign up for a plan, get one free (there is no subsidy or totally free pbones, so it is RARE)

Those two smartphones were high-end smartphones. Considering the poor sales of the first four BlackBerry 10 smartphones it would have been idiotic to release more 'flagship' smartphones.

It seems like the specification will be similar to Z10, but with no NFC, lower screen resolution, maybe MTK chip, hopefully removable battery.
