I apologize in advance if the question has a simple answer, but here it goes. I really want to switch to the Q10 from my iphone. I miss the keyboard and email. The only thing holding me back, are the lack of apps. Specifically, instagram. I have been reading that you can side load it or somehow get it on the phone and/or the new software allows you to directly install it. So my question is - How simple is this to do? For someone who is not a tech savvy person, is it hard to get android apps on the Q10? Does the new software allow you to directly install? If the process is easy, how should I do it?

    I appreciate all the help.

    Thanks

If your carrier already carried the official 10.2, you can sideload the latest instagram app using tools like DDPB through your PC with the .bar file floating on Google.
It's easy & simple, just download the instagram .bar file, connect the Q10 to your PC, load the .bar into DDPB, install it and things done

Im not gonna lie, I wish it were easier….. There are several ways to do it.. you can side load it which is easy as ever with google chrome or you can download the amazon app store or many of the others.. However those app stores are limited. I took my chances with snap.. this is a more complicated way, but the benefits are much much better… You just have to head over to the forum and follow the directions carefully.. It took me about 25 mins but after that I now have access to all of the free android apps and the updates when they arrive… If instagram is the only concern, I say make the leap. because of the q10's smaller screen you will suffer in the size department (no pun) and there are a few other quirks, but over all bb10 in my opinion is much fourth along that IOS, not to mention the ugly visuals in the latest IOS.. yuck…

Is side loading and using crome/amazon something that is already installed on any version of the software? does verizon run 10.2?

I think I've read it before that Verizon already rolled out 10.2 since October.

You need DDPB software to load the .bar file and install the app to your device using USB cable. Just search the forums for tutorials.

Verizon is still 10.1 for both the q10 and z10. I would make the switch if I were you. I love my q10, and there is BlackGram in the app store for the basics of Instagram functionality with igrann coming soon.
