I got the SanDisk 64gb Class 10 micro SD and I can't format it.

    Here are the screen shots:

Do I have a bad card?

    I'm on OS 10.2.1.1055

Thanks in advance for your help.

That's what happens when you hit that Format Media Card button?

First I'd try a device reset first. (Not same as a Restart.)
Hold down both the Volume Up & Down keys. Keep holding both, ignoring screenshot popup, blank screens, black & white splashscreens. When you see the blue startup icon, release the keys.
Any different outcome after the reset?

Also, do you have access to any other BB10 devices, maybe without the leak running? You could format it on that one first, then see if it worked on the Z30 after.

Yes, that's what happens when I hit the Format Media Card Button.

I did a hard reset... same result

I don't have access to another Z10 at this time. My g/f has one running 10.2 - I could try formatting it on her phone tomorrow night.

I confirmed "format memory card" works on my phone as I was able to format my old 16gb SD card (after copying the contents to my computer, of course! )

Tonight I will see if the new 64gb card will format on my g/f's Z10 that's running the official 10.2 OS.

It's a know issue on the leak 10.2.1 OS there's two or three threads on this.

The only thing u can do it format in a different device or go back to 10.2 and then reinstall 10.2.1

Or in one of the other threads someone pointed out a program on your computer u can download to change the format

I had a similar problem a few weeks ago and I found in one of the posts the following solution and it worked!
The problem is that Blackberry does not recognize the exFat format. No use to try to format the mini SD card in NTFS neither.
You have to find a way to format it in FAT32 to make it work.
For this, go to www.ridgecrop.demon.uk/guiformat.exe and follow the instructions.
It worked for me short before getting totally frustrated and hopeless with my newly factory replaced Kingston mini SD 64 GB.
I hope that this will work for you as well.

San Discs have issues. Buy a Patriot. I asked my local Frys Electronics Superstore which brand has the least returns. They informed me they don't have returns with the Patriots. I've been using them for 5 years in my phones, cameras, computers with zero issues.

Too late for me as I returned my 64gig to Crackberry. I could not format or get it recognized the z10. And my Vista system would only format it as exFAT which did not solve the issue after 4 hours of formatting!

I will explore the posted solutions if I got for another 64gig card.

After I formatted a SANdisk SSD 128 GB packaged into a SATA 2.5" USB housing with the method given by LuisCast my Z30 OTG USB link had no trouble reading and writing to the disk, e.g. this is how the drive looked after I formatted it for 128 GB using the letter m.

    C:\>chkdsk m:
The type of the file system is FAT32.
    Volume Serial Number is 1ADE-1463
Windows is verifying files and folders...
File and folder verification is complete.
Windows has checked the file system and found no problems.
    124,995,296 KB total disk space.
    124,995,264 KB are available.
32,768 bytes in each allocation unit.
3,906,103 total allocation units on disk.
3,906,102 allocation units available on disk.

This confirms FAT 32 is currently supported by the Z30 for sizes including and larger than 64 GB and should be good for up to 8 TB (?). (NTFS did not work for me).

I used XP to format my solid state drive using 'no name' for the drive (my OTG would not read it when the drive had a name ?). So if 10.2.1 fails to format your SD card for a 64 GB size you could use a PC via diskmgmt.msc and fat32format.exe to help out with this current known issue or if you intend to use larger external HDs via OTG.
