I am getting:

"you have signed into your Google account"

four seconds later I am getting:

"you have signed out of your Google account"

hmmm what gives?

I've had this problem for a few days now - I wonder if some built-in certificate on the Google Maps app has expired as of December 1?

This seems to have happened before, in March/April of 2013, and at that time some people were able to work around things in a limited way - see Google Maps not letting you sign-in on your Blackberry? | The Picky Sys Admin

I haven't tried it and suspect that the backrev to 3 and reupgrade hack won't help much, but if you just want to sync your starred places, the quick repeat thing might.

You can but it's hardly worth it for the effort and it logs you out frequently.

similar issue with me where I have installed the APK. it working fine but I cannot sign in for some reason. asks you to "add an account" and when you click nothing happens.
