If you could pay to root your PlayBook via a trusted 3rd party service, would you?

Let's assume that the trusted 3rd party was affiliated with BlackBerry and had authorization to use their tools.

Let's assume that the price point was not important right now.

Let's assume that you had to download a paid app in order to make this happen.

I don't want to pay and neither choice fits for me. I'm not against others doing it but I wouldn't pay for it either.

Gee, it's almost like you're trying to influence voters to vote "Yes" by the wording of your choices.

Ok, maybe I was too vague. It really isn't about whether you would, it's about if you would pay for it.

Maybe the poll should say, "Yes, I think I would pay something to root my PlayBook." or "No, I don't think paying to root my PlayBook is agreeable to me."

Oh, and I am not the developer in question. I am merely conducting market research. Please let your friends know about the poll to vote.

If there enough interest, maybe this can get BB to open up their secrets!

No way. In the history of device rooting, when has anyone been willing to pay?

Agreed, which is why the poll is being asked. BB has never allowed device rooting. What would get them to change their minds?

Nothing would get them to change their minds. They are first and foremost all about security. It wouldn't be good for the company image.

I'd be willing to pay, but not for rooting. I'm more interested in unlocking the bootloader to install an alternate OS since the PB OS isn't getting any further development from BlackBerry.

the option to turn it into an android would be of interest but I'd prefer an updated runtime. if that made it onto app world then I'd happily pay for it.

    Yes, under the following conditions:

    1. There is no feasible way to do it myself
    2. I feel the price is reasonable
