    If it were possible to re name the current range of devices, what would your choices be?

    i'll start it off.

    Z30 = Berry One
    Q10= Berry Two
    Z10= Berry Three
    Q5= Berry Four

    That's pretty bland. How would anyone know the difference and you can't designate a ranking to devices. That's purely your opinion. lol
    Why not call one Spark? Bolt? Fire? something like that?

    Besides that, there are four Z10's. The 1,2,3, and 4. Yes all are Z10 but the 1 is different so can't be lumped into the group as one.

    I always liked the names of the legacy devices (Pearl, Curve, Bold, Storm, Torch) but I think the current naming scheme is very good as it kind of sheds the old image. I vote for leaving it alone

    But the 4 versions are just radio stacks. Other than that, they're all pretty much the same (well except for the -1)

    Well, you do not want the new platform identified with legacy names (and issues). The present names are fine for me. The phones definitely need to be marketed a whole lot better.

    The current names make no bloody sense. What makes it a "10" vs "30"? Why not 25, or 14 or 23?

    I also didn't like the legacy names. Bold 9900. What...the...hell kind of random is that? It may make sense to the techie, but not the average consumer.

    Compare with: Galaxy S1, S2, S3, S4. IPhone 4, 4S, 5, 5C.

    There's logic to their numbering that is evident. There's no evident logic to 8330, 9630. The hell is that? Never made sense to me why they would name it that. Still doesn't. Never will. Change the naming. Let's go Chen

    z10 = z1
    z30 = z2

    Etc.

    I think they spread the numbers out so that the can come back and put models that range between the two phones. Bad strategy overall. Each phone you release should be progressively better (and then your previously new phone gets price cut to fill the lower end market). That's how the big guns do it. No one should have ever thought of releasing the Q10, then the Q5. Maybe to get the models started, sure, but no more of this. Each model moving forward should be better than the previous one in their category.

    How is this not basic sense? Give me millions damn it I could run the freaking company.

    So since BBs strength is city guides they should be naming devices after actual cities.

    BlackBerry Waterloo
    BlackBerry Vienna
    BlackBerry Lahore

    The internal names of the first bb10 devices were London and Milan so its not a big stretch.

    How about naming the phones like this:

    Boysenberry
    Raspberry
    Strawberry
    Blueberry
    Mulberry
    Or my favorite...wait for it....

    Huckleberry!!

    Those numbers used to have meaning with the legacy devices
    XX00 = GSM Device
    XX10 = GSM device with GPS (8310)
    XX20 = GSM device with WiFi (8320)
    XX30 = CDMA device

    After that my dodgy memory loses it but I do believe that XX50, XX60 and XX70 were specific designations also.

    Thanks for clarifying that. I figured there was some sense to them. But I think that's too convoluted nowadays. Short and sweet:

    Z series, Z1, Z2, Z3
    Q series, Q1, Q2, Q3
    And so forth.

    Remember, people are unbelievably dumb (evidenced by how many iphones sell a year). So we gotta keep it simple for the children.

    I really do not see the need to describe people who use other platforms as dumb or children, but then again I also don't live / buy "the life style" (as you are fond of saying)

    ...anywho, your naming scheme really isn't any simpler than that used for the legacy devices.
    Just as "10", "20", "30" etc... had specific meaning so too must your "1", "2" and "3" because if they don't you could just call the devices the Z and the Q and leave it at that. No?

    10 seems like there would be an 11. Or 12. Or 15. Etc. Keep it simple. 1 2 3 4. Is there any other successful (thus not Nokia) phone series that have double/triple digit series names?

    And yes, you do sell the life style. How is that hard to understand? God - damn it, no wonder the internet turns people into dicks, I'm becoming such an ******* because you can't understand a basic marketing principle. *gives up* *waits for the hate*

    I think they should use the names of the American Gladiators:

    Malibu, Lace, Zap, Gemini, Nitro, Sunny, Blaze, Bronco, Gold, Laser, Jade, Titan, Diamond, Ice, Thunder, Turbo, Storm, Tower, Viper, Altas, Cyclone, Elektra, Havoc, Sabre, Siren, Sky, Dallas, Hawk, Jazz, Rebel and Tank.

    Back in the 2000's it was common for makes of phones to have numbering designating a 'series' or price bracket.

    Nokia phones were the 'other' make where you could just say the number to someone, "I have a 3210", and the other person would know exactly what you had without even asking what the manufacturer was, they were that well known.

    Within BlackBerry circles the numbers of BBOS phones became just as well known. The difference is that BlackBerry carried on the practice long after the other companies had stopped when they realised that the numbers didn't mean anything to the average consumer they were chasing.

    In fact BlackBerry did it again this year with the 9720! I suppose it has a target market of the BBOS user who knows his BlackBerry phones by now with it being a phone to drag the life of BBOS7.1 out another year or so for those who can't upgrade to BB10 and with no BIS. But the fact they were still using number series until 2013 is just another sign of how rooted in the past BlackBerry have been and probably still are.
