Sadly, BlackBerry still hasn't learned that it needs to be more transparent, I thought this would change with TH taking over, but that reversed quickly after that June ER, now with John Chen in for two weeks, my optimism slowly fades away.. with all of these defections, John Chen needs to step up, does he not understand that Share price = media attention = consumer sentiment = employee morale = blackberry success..

Let's hope they realize this ASAP, before it's too late

I don't mean transparency relative to the security of the organization. I mean transparency with respect to company position, strategic initiatives, deadlines, etc.

I also believe, the government of Canada should come out directly and assure, that the government will support and backup the organization as required, as it's a strategic and of technological importance to the country.

The government already does... they are just slow in terms of testing migration and integration. I know because I've seen it being tested and trust me every department at least at the Canadian federal level has begun the process.

Oh yes, I know that the government uses their products (this was how they decided to support the company) what I'm saying is that the Canadian government needs to reassure, in the public eye, that they will support BlackBerry both financially and through any means it sees fit, as it's a vital part of Canada's future as a key technological player.

This should be an important directive, especially considering the failure of Nortel and the egg it left on Canada's face. The government needs to show strength that if it won't acquisitions of key corporations by foreign interests, that it will stand behind them in order to ensure their success.

Note - I understand the government doesn't want to disturb the free markets with respect to organizations, to avoid appearing more socialist. But the reality is that Canada is a socialist country, and it shouldn't be ashamed to hide this. The rest of the world has already seen this through the failure of other recent deals.

And I agree with you, BlackBerry is very silent at times, customers like to know what's going in and what's coming up, not from sites like crackberry, but straight from the horse mouth. Hopefully with Chen this will change.

Chen deserves a little bit of time to review the situation and synthesize a strategy, doesn't he?

After that, I would agree. He needs to articulate it very clearly. I think he can. Chen is considerably more experienced and more qualified than Heins, but he's not a miracle worker! This is a huge turnaround project.

I agree that Chen needs to tell the public what they are going to do. I also agree that the Canadian government should tell everyone that they are behind BlackBerry. This is because if they are blocking the sale of the company based on national concerns they owe this to the shareholders. It also is logical that they would support the company of there are real national interests to protect.
