    Hi,

I bought a Z10 from someone who had won it in a contest. The phone was factory unlocked and I started using it. Now, there are some issues with the phone and I would like to see if the phone is still under warranty. There is no brand name on the phone and I have no idea where the phone is bought from. Is there any way that I can find out if my phone is under warranty by anyone?

    Cheers,

    Jafarpour

    What issues does it have?

Usually, BB warranties only apply to the original purchaser. Even though I purchased a brand new z10 from a verizon user and it was never activated, Verizon/bb would not transfer the warranty. But they were offering their insurance open so I picked that up - of course, extra cost. I may drop it after the first year when the warranty would have normally expired.

There is a bright spot on the screen. It is not bad. But I'm afraid it is going to get worse

Try going to your carrier and see if you can get it under insurance. Like the guy who posted above.

Is there a Carrier name when you REBOOT/restart it? I guess if unbranded you'd have to try going through BB but they don't generally deal directly with the public on phones. There is a Playbook support number. You might try calling that and see if they can help or provide a number

The PB has a one year warranty to the original purchaser (longer in some jurisdictions). It also has 90 free Tech support. I do not know how Rim deals with "quasi-tech support v. warranty"

Because who does someone like the Original Poster contact for help or warranty repair or any BB repair if warranty does not apply? It is their product, they can provide some form of information or help services.

I bought a new phone off of Ebay once and all they do is look up the date the phone was activated. If it was within the year they would fix it(which it was and they did). I went to my service provider to do it and no questions asked. I may of had to show them proof of my purchase but don't remember...
