I don't particularly like this new call screen. I have read some people could not figure out how to use the current gesture of swiping up or down to answer or decline. So the solution is to mimic the other 3 platforms??? I for one love my different style of answering a call, what do you think? If nothing else I would like to see it as an option in settings.

I like the differentiation too, but being able to prove geek cred by figuring out a smartphone isn't a selling point at the moment.

Thing is, it matches the gestures. Close a program is a swipe up and to reject is swipe up. Makes sense.

The only possible issue I see is potential confusion with the general-app 'swipe to the left' gesture (like in the CB10 app, etc) that is used to 'go back'. But as long as the phone app doesn't allow any type of side-to-side navigation, i guess this is alright... probably easier for those with smaller hands or bigger devices (Z30).

So does one have to swipe or can we just tap the green or red?

Perhaps, just perhaps, there will be an option to decide how you want the call screen to be setup. I think it is always nice to have options. Just like the option is now available to make your theme light or dark. How about making this one of those type deals as well? Just a thought.

This is actually what my wife said when I showed it to her. She is one of those that has trouble answering with the current setup. She said : "I just want to be able to tap on something to pick up"

Looks like a swipe to me. Seems a lot easier than the current way of answering though.

I don't like new call screen very much, I can swipe up/down easily with just my thump on left/right hand. With new call screen, I always use two my hands, left for holding device, and right for swipe right/left. I cannot use just with one thump, as you see, it's difficult to use just with one thump (left/right hand) to swipe left/right.

Haven't installed the new leak yet but I've seen plenty of posts against the new call screen. I love my current call screen, but I think the left/right gesture makes more sense
The only thing is, from the screen shots I've seen, it looks really but I mean really ugly!
Btw, I'm a die-hard blackberry fan, but let's be real this company is dying, from what I've heard they now have something like less than 2% market share, and people are going ballistic about a new call sreen...

is there any way, by chance, to load the bar of the previous phone app to get the old call screen back?

a handful of previous phone bar files are here.

wondering if anyone can find a way to get that working? I tried with no luck but I could be missing something.

The problem with making this an option is that it would lead to an inconsistent UI for BB10, which would be confusing for people. Consistency is important for key features like the phone, especially for a new OS.

Is it not more inconsistent to make this change.... without the option to go back to the original call screen.

The big fat button vs. bar, would have been useful in the old style. This new one works for me. Don't need an option.

Like it or not but let's keep in mind that this change is part of a leak. It's not an official change. Remember the squircle?
The new screen is definitely more user friendly, for new BB10 users, than the existing screen.

I've noticed some people mention a problem with being able to slide the bar all the way up to the top of the screen when answering a call one handed... I'd like to propose to those people, as a potential problem solver.. you don't actually have to slide the bar the entire way.. you can put your thumb on it and then flick it up enough to answer. I rarely slide my thumb all the way, I typically just throw it up to the top and it's enough to answer... I don't have particularly large hands, but I have never had an issue with answering the phone.
