Anyone have any recommendations for wireless charging for the Z30? I would like the latest and greatest!

Anyone have first hand experience with wireless charging on the Z30?

I thought wireless charging support on the Z30 was just a rumour, since debunked. I think it would say something like the "Qi wireless charging alliance" or something.

My partner has an induction cooktop: I wonder if I could just put it on there on low and it would charge? Hmmm... (NO DON'T DO THIS YOU'LL DIE AND OTHERS WILL ALSO DIE TOO.)

Apparently its true, according to Verizon's Z30 page. Wireless charging support out of the box! How cool is that! Can't wait!

I'm hoping that at this Thursday's launch VzW will have the charging pad available as well.

When you click the link that says "wireless charging" at the bottom of the page, it sends you to a universal wireless charging unit. I'm just not sure this is a good one or not.

I think this is only for the verison unit as it has something different due to their specific system requirements.

I hope I'm wrong as I would love to have this feature.

That charger specifies the 750mAh standard which is lower than my Z10's included 850mAh wired charger. Don't know what the Z30 has packed with it (perhaps someone could chime in here) but I'm guessing it is even more highly powered than the Z10's 850. So a 750mAh charging output from that particular 3rd party wireless charger might be a bit slow but perhaps that will be one of the limitations of wireless charging.

the only Z30 with wireless charging are the Verizon branded ones.. all other carriers around the world do not have it.

I have an Energizer charging pad we bought 2 yrs ago for my wife's Droid. Works fine on that, we just set it on the pad before we go to bed, and
charged by morning. Never really paid any attention as to how fast it worked. (she gets to go back to plugging in when she gets my z10 )

Can you please clarify: Do you mean the pads that need a dongle plugged into the USB? Or does the phone wirelessly charge just by being on the pad without anything plugged into it?
Is your Z30 just a standard model? Because I don't really understand how Verizon could be getting different special hardware than everyone else.

It is a pad you lay the phone on. Qi compatable. Has spots for two phones. Had to install an optional back on the droid charge, the z30 already has the charging coil in the back. Just set it on the pad.

There's not much to the hardware, I remember seeing people hack the coils from Palm Pre backs to android phones in order to use touchstone chargers. Pretty much have a little thicker back plate with a coil of wire in it and contacts in the phone to the charging circuits

Cool. That's what I expected. I was sure Verizon doesn't have any special device model.

    Yup 1000mA is 1amp

Also, you can get Nokia wireless chargers at AT&T on sale every other month. Like $25 when on sale from $50. They have several colors

IMHO how much output Wireless Charging can give? Because I find a 10W Wall Charger to be a more compelling reason to power up my phone... Just saying though

It's not really about the speed for me it's more the convenience of having a pad on a work desk or the kitchen that you can throw the phone on with out connecting / disconnecting all the time, especially considering the Z30's long battery life... it probably would not hit empty after a typical work day anyway... trickle charging is sufficient.

Yeah but some of these units are spotty. Meaning the phone needs to be in a certain position to work. Again, I would look closer at the Nokia types. They're supposed to have a very wide angle of charging support. The phone only needs to be next to it to charge. Android guys have recommended the Nokia Qi stuff over other brands. I don't know how well it would work with the Z30 but I can only assume for now that it would only be just as good.
