With the amazing improvement in the Android runtime, it would be great to have a thread with information listing Android apps *NOT* working.

It seems that we can strike the Google Maps limitation from this list:
Software Features - Runtime for Android apps - BlackBerry Developer

Let's try to test some of the other limitations like

- in app purchase
- Push notifications (not rewritten for BlackBerry)

If you find an Android app nor working with 10.2.1.1055 pls. post it in this thread.
If possible pls. provide a link to app in Google Play so others may test/validate.

If this thread ends with only one post, BlackBerry must have made a 100% compatible implementation ;-)

Not really relevant for this thread. But I assume anything installed from outside BlackBerry World is sideloaded, whether it beeing a .bar or .apk.

I wonder if pushing a .bar file from BES10 to the work partition is called sideloading then? ;-)

May I suggest a change in the thread title? When I first read it, I thought it was a statement that android apps were not working in the OS. I didn't know it was a request to list any apps found to not work.

Maybe just add "List any..." in front.

Good suggestion though. It would be nice to know what may not work.

Will begin all my testing tomorrow. I have lots of Android apps that I use. Will give my feedback by just updating this post. :-)

Carnivores HD does NOT work - it requires that you connect to the GSF to download its contents...pity!
Asphalt 8 Also not working - needs GSF as well...

Canadian Tire app, -- although its highly doubtful since the google maps api still isn't there but maybe they finally did something about invoking bb maps.

I believe in order to do this test properly, you need to erase previously installed BAR files and then download and install the latest Apk of the app. With the now included on-board apk installer.
Some apk files are actually app stores (amazon, 1mobile market, etc) which then allow easy download of apk apps.

As an example 4.2.2 instagram, works fine including video, when installed via Apk and there is no need to load 2 bar files to get it working.

When trying to install the latest Instagram APK my Q10 replies with 'The installer is outdated. Abort installation?'. Even when I refuse to abort it the circle is just spinning endlessly and nothing happens. What might be the problem? Please, anyone?

I'm talking about the pure APK method. I know it works with bar files, but trying the APK method with 10.2.1.1055 which this thread is talking about, it gets an error about google services after logging in.

I know you can install the bar and have it working, but with the APK method you get the problem and I wanted to know if anyone knew how to bypass it. I'm sure this google services popup isn't only going to happen to SnapChat either, so a fix would be useful.

Most apps I have tried for myself work with the straight up install apk method.

However I've been trying out games and such for my girlfriend who is still waiting for the Z10 installer.

The following 2 games do not work for me:
-Triple Town (apparently this game is the sole reason she carries and ipod touch around with her Z10)
-PvZ 2 (her second favourite game)
