There's a black dot on the camera everytime I take a picture/video. The screen is 100% fine. The black dot only shows on camera mode. This happened after I dropped my Z10. Help!

It looks like a bit of plastic inside the camera cover. Can you see it?

The camera lens looks clear on the outside. Could it be a software related?

Doesn't look like a software issue. Might be a problem with the sensor like it was posted above. Maybe a piece of tape or dust or something. Was it like that since you got it? Try getting a new one? Does it show the dot only in pictures or in videos too? Is it the same on the front camera too?

Maybe matrix problem? A friend of mine had the same, he gave his phone to the service center, they have made something with that, afterwards he had no issues.

Only the back camera is affected. Better take it to the repair store

Yes. It sounds like a hardware issue. Bring it to your carrier, and there's a pretty good chance it will be covered by BlackBerry's one year warranty if you don't say that you dropped it. Just say it suddenly appeared.

OK so the dot disappeared! Maybe it's because I dropped my phone again! Hahahahah

I have a dot just like this. Maybe I should try dropping the phone a few more times ;-)

This looks very much like a defective/damaged CMOS camera sensor. I'm surprised you were able to fix this just by dropping it again. Personally, I wouldn't advise this, it would be a better idea to take the device to a service center to have the camera module replaced. If it is a defective CMOS sensor, then it will likely return!

The Z10's camera is one of the easiest part to change (the phone also). Look a video, get some tools and replace it if you can't fix it.

Less than 20 dollars for the camera and useful tools.

Be careful, there is few differents cam references.

10 dollars should even get you there. It's pretty straight forward to do. Just replaced it myself in about 10 minutes.

Yup, I changed the camera on my Q10 once. It's to do and cheap.

Though I think yours was simply debris, you could easily open it up and clean the insides. While you're in there I'd change out your thermal paste too on the heatsink and CPU using good quality thermal paste - I guarantee you yours is rock hard grey toothpaste.

But anyhow, I would agree with the posters who said it's easy to open up the phone and swap out the camera if needed. Just follow some YouTube videos to disassemble, fix (swap out part) and then reassemble. If you do go this route, see our forum and my post # 16 in http://forums.crackberry.com/blackbe...resale-858674/ ) for my feedback on getting in there (my comments pertain to replacing the digitizer but it's the same type of stuff once you're in there). You simply need the part for your model of phone, the screwdrivers and time. I swapped out my screen and changed my paste and my phone has been awesome. It flies and I never have problems. Took like 25 minutes and I was incredibly careful and slow because I wanted it perfect. The camera replacement (if you needed to) would take even less time to do since it's just a module on a cable. You can always mix and match chassis parts too (the phone case) to turn a black phone into a red phone or white phone or even an Oreo mix. All the parts are available off ebay.

Anyhow, sounds like you don't need to do this but don't be a scardy cat to go inside your phone. It's a 9/10 easy repair. It would get 10/10 if you didn't have to source out the screwdrivers - seriously, it's the hardest part of the whole procedure.
