A small Photoshop work applied with my humble version and skill. This Q30 as you can see is a 4:3 screen that's about 3.6-3.7 inches which in whole gives is rather more lengthy attire. It's dimensions are 125x96x10.4 mm (up from 119.6x66.8x10.4 mm on the Q10)

The screen is 3.7 inches and not 4 as mentioned in the picture.
The screen is supposed to be the 1080 x 1440.

    What do you guys think?

Two things, neither consequential, jump out at me:

    1) Almost 4 inches seems a tad wide
    2) Someone else did a mock up a bit back and I wondered if the "BlackBerry" could be dropped below the keyboard and the reclaimed upper space could be used to expand the screen size.

All in all I like the idea and would definitely be interested in a Q with a bigger / better screen. Good job.

Hey thanks. It was a 10 minutes work so I guess if the designers worked abit harder they might do a really nice job

It's a good idea and like I said I'd buy it. I'm always impressed with people who can PhotoShop. Not in my wheel house, AT ALL

I know but I was more specifically talking about the body of the phone not the screen. That's why I said almost 4 inches though in all fairness as an American I had to fire up the old standard to metric converter to work that out

I don't like the 1:1 screen that's why I tried to make it landscape 4:3 (I am not a graphic designer nor designer whatsoever) so I struggled to do my pic hehehe I like the ur pic though

Honestly I think it is to wide. At 3.77 inches it would no longer fit in my hand properly and would be a nightmare to use one handed with a keyboard that wide imo.

There's your fatal flaw. I don't think programmers are going to care that much about specific resolution specs, but there are only two aspect ratios, period: 16:9 and 1:1.

You can try making a bigger 1:1 screen, sure, and MAYBE even a wide model that runs 16:9, but 4:3 just isn't going to fly.

Ok you are right, I will try tomorrow with a bigger 1:1 screen, the biggest that I can do and try to make a proper bigger q phone with some better finishings

...see, the idea I'D like to see them pursue would be an attachment that would fit on the back of the Z30 and turn it into a slider...

Sure it is, but BB's Developer Relations has already pretty much promised that 1:1 and 16:9 would be the only supported aspect ratios for BB devices from here on out.

To be honest, before Blackberry announced the Z10 and Q10, I actually expected them to launch a Blackberry slider (horizontal-style), similar to the DROID series that Motorola used to make. I'm surprised they haven't: that form factor feels like you literally have a computer in your pocket.

One of the reasons I got an iPad was the 4:3 aspect ratio. Shaped more like a book.

I know that has been promised by BBRY, but honestly, what Devs are out there programming for BBRY that actually care?

I don't see Devs creating an uproar against BBRY for making a widely used aspect ratio of 4:3 as long as it makes the phone function and look better.

I don't even know if Devs remember or even know that BBRY made a "promise" to stick to two aspect ratios.

    From the screen size documentation

    All-touch smartphones: 720 x 1280 pixels (16:9 aspect ratio)
    Smartphones with a physical keyboard: 720 x 720 pixels (1:1 aspect ratio)

Granted, the steps to make the app work for the different sizes could work for additional sizes.

This concept looks more horizontal like the Motorola Pro (Which had a 3.1 inch screen). It'd be nice to have a screen larger than 3.1" but it is hard to do with the portrait-QWERTY form factor.
