After man years away from BBM and now back it seems that there are more and more pretend people on it and lots on this site. I get more fake bbm request from that are not who they look like or are just plain sneaky. I know it was a problem before but man since being back only a few weeks it seems way worse. In my 4 years with BB I cant remember getting this much during the whole time back then.

I just had to throw that out there...Sorry for venting ..I love BBM but its getting annoying

What exactly do you mean by 'pretend people'? Also... probably doesn't help to have your PIN publicly available on your signature and/or profile on a site like CrackBerry.

Well, you do have your PIN displayed publicly in your signature...so that surely doesn't help

The problem will of course be magnified by a larger user base. More people on BBM=higher chances you'll run into creepy people. I take solace in the fact that's it's an opt-in system, so if I don't approve any undesirable people, they won't get on my BBM (or probably know that I'm even using BBM.) Whereas in a system like Whatsapp, if someone gets my phone number, it's not an opt-in system--I'm automatically added until/unless I block them.

I think i was referring to people with fake Avi's that request you...not really pretend people. I post my Pin in public and did for yours. Now it just seems there is more weird people out there. It hard to explain...

Lol I think the issue here (a legitimate one, but not just limited to BBM, quite frankly) is that the OP is approving incoming requests that he probably shouldn't be.
