Somehow since I have my amazing Z30 I have only 3 Bars reception on my 4G and 3G? In Hong Kong there is almost full coverage of 4G but tried 3G as well just to check.

I live in HK and bought my Z30 from London. Can it be because of that? I read things about "Radio Files" etc. Would that be different per location / carier?

Hmm...I'm not sure what is going on. I remember you saying you were on CSL, and their radio bands are: UMTS 900, 2100 and LTE FDD 1800, 2600--all of which the European Z30 (STA100-2) has.

Carrier frequencies do matter when buying a phone yes, but yours has all the bands that your carrier uses.

Correct, I am on CSL 1010.

Yes that is what I thought as well... I just switched this morning to 2G/3G and now I have full bars again.

Maybe something to do with just the 4G. Strange thing is though that the 3 Bars never move...it is always 3 Bars and never more or less...

My question is also related to a frustration I have regarding my Z30 battery life...

I read all great and positive stories about people using their BlackBerry pretty full on including video, music, etc., and getting 20+ hours our of their battery.
I must admit that as much I find my Z30 amazing I don't get this result at all. I unplugged for example this morning at 08:00 and now at 12:30 by battery is at 52%. I will never make it 20 hours on my battery...

So, I am trying to get to a solution by deduction and I think the pull of radio reception is/can be big drain on battery.
I do not have or leave apps open ever so that's not it. Also my screen brightness is at 60% only. Wifi I hardly ever use either. (Unlimited data plan in HK)

    Any suggestions?

How long have you had it? If it's only been a week the phone might still be drawing information about your contacts and apps which will affect battery life

    Do a hard reset.

Make sure that you are not syncing data in the background.

I have the Z30 now a month so all should be quite settled.

I do use three email accounts on Office 365 so these are syncing frequently. Still, only one of these is syncing calendar etc.

I read of people using way more and still getting 20+ hours out of their battery... I am a bit frustrated about that.

Open Settings-->App Manager-->Device Monitor. Check to see what is using the CPU. System is normally going to be the highest CPU use. On my Z10 it averages about 3%. If you have some app consistently near the top (other than System), kill that app by tapping it and at the graph screen, tap Stop at the bottom center. See if that changes your battery life.

You should consider getting a battery monitor such as Battery Guru (that's what I use) which will let you see power use changes pretty quickly.

Finally, to test for high transmitter use as the culprit, turn on Airplane mode for a while and see if the power monitor app shows a big reduction in battery use. If it does, you may have something syncing too much which is keeping the transmitter on.

Once you know what is using the battery too much, you just need to figure out what to do about it.
