I don't like the pictures that I am sending to my family losing photo quality due to file compression by BBM....Is there any way to turn it off?

No but once you send the photo and it downloads so to speak on the other end, you family member can tap and hold the pic and choose HQ from the menu
It sends a higher quality pic.

Or you can zip the photo and then send it. You can zip Multiple photos in 1 zip file too. Nice :-)

Thanks Guys....that will work for now...i hope BlackBerry gives option to set picture transfer at high resolution for those who want it rather than requesting it one photo at a time.

The compression really seemed to have become a problem in the days/weeks leading up to cross platform launch. I suspect they increased the compression drastically in order to accommodate the anticipated influx of users sucking up bandwidth through the BBM servers.
