So, better than a long speech, I did a little video using BlackBerry Story Maker :

In simple words, I bought a Wireless receiver which fits on any micro USB port.

It fits nicely in between my phone and my case, so no issue !

It cost me 20 including postage and a charger from dx.com ....

What do you think of this ? neat Hugh ?

That's pretty cool! Only issue I could think of would be having to unplug it to connect the usb for data transfer.

I thought of this but I realised that I do everything wirelessly. (sync of photos and videos with BlackBerry Link are via Wifi)

Considering the cost of the wireless receiver, (a few bucks) this should be a very standard feature by now.

I've watched it several times, it is hard to see the charging attachment plugged in, wire routed,...

Could you post seperate pics? Also, could you post dimensions of the charging circuit and cable thickness?

    Hi buddies,

Hard for me to take pictures as I only have my Z10.
The receiving pad is *really* thin. Under 1mm I guess. It fits ok in between my phone and my case.

The Z10 has the micro USB port in the side and not on the bottom like most android phone so I folded the lead inside (but kept the pas intact)

It would be really awesome if instead of plugging into the micro usb there was a lead that connected directly between the phone terminals and the battery... I'm not sure if that would cause any harm to the device though if it was pushing out more juice to actually charge the battery.... Is there anything like this available leaving the usb free and everything well hidden?

Yes, this would be great. This is actually what is done on Some Samsung phones.
I am really open to someone who would have such a solution !
It would be great if it would even fit inside the phone itself

In the meantime, this is a reasonably safe solution to try it. I'm quite convinced so far !

But keep in mind : this is cheap Chinese stuff

At least there is an option for people who need wireless charging. How do you find it performs when compared to a regular charger.

Well, the Qi charger I have is delivering 5V/1.5A. I understand that in the worst case scenario you have an efficiency of 60% with such chargers.

In realistic terms, it means for the that it charges as fast as the genuine Z10 charger.

It is however slower than my PlayBook charger which delivers 2A.

No, I use this one :

However, the one you mention looks rather cool. And the cable seems longer which would be appreciable.

It indicates out of 5V/500mA though which is really low and I don't know of this would be enough for the Z10 to charge properly.
I don't have any error message with the one I use. (but as nothing is indicated, it may be the same output voltage, I don't know and I cannot check it).

Or a battery with the receiver built in, seeing as this one is wafer thin it shouldn't affect capacity

Both the one you have and the one slparry show are both 500mA. DX doesn't have any other universal micro usb receivers. I would like to get one that is rated 1000mA or better but I'm not sure if there is such a thing.

There are alot of receivers for Androids that look like they have special contacts under the back cover for a wireless receiver to attach to. Do all Androids have these contacts? I wish there was an option for wireless charging on the Z10. Also, I wonder how the Z30s wireless receiver will attach to the phone.

@ Polytan02, What are you using for a wireless charging pad?
