Can someone tell me how to reset the hub?

Put your finger on the black bezel at the top right side of the screen and swipe toward the center 5 times. The starting point for the swipe is just past the very corner of the screen.

From top right corner of Hub, swipe down 5 times.

Whenever I've done it, I've started on the screen in top right corner, and swiped directly down, not diagonal.

That's cool that diagonal works too.
