Ok, I realize I'm not good at a lot of things technology-related.

I'm really trying to load the Square app onto my z10 so that I can accept credit cards for my business/related charities. I've got the (physical) reader. Thought the best/easiest way to do this would be to go the Chrome route (drag and drop is our friend, right?). I have watched the damned video on how to do this on CB what feels like 100 times.

Loaded Chrome onto my pc. Downloaded the Square app from the Chrome store. Enabled developer mode on my z10. Found the "bar" file, tried to download it. Windows said it couldn't read the file. Found opensource software that was supposed to open bar files. Downloaded that. Tried to download the Square app from the Chrome app store again. STILL can't open/read the bar file. WTH?

I realize I'm probably missing a very simple step. But what the he11 is that step? It shouldn't be this hard to get something to work. Should it?

    z10 model stl100-3 software 10.1.0.2019

    Can anyone help me? Thanks.

I don't have the link at the moment but have you installed the Chrome add-in: Playbook App Manager.

Thanks, F2. Yes, I've installed the add-in. My problem is when it opens up and I'm supposed to transfer the .bar file from my pc to the add-in (at least, that's how I understand it). I can't get the .bar file to open up...

Use this. Really simple and easy. I struggled until I found this.

You may have done this, but then open or use the add-in. There's instructions at the top (right, I think) in the Chrome browser and then you drag the bar file to that window and it should install.

You may need a debug token or just load the unlocked runtime. Works fine though.

Looks like you may have to upgrade your BlackBerry software to version 10.2.1.
I have the same model Z10 as you but with software version 10.2.1.2102.
I side loaded the "Snap" app and used it to download Square directly from Google Play.
I've tested the Square reader several times with different credit cards and it works great.
