I thought official OS 10.2 is hybrid. This official OS could operate apps with bar files. the leaked unlock android runtime is for leaked OS only .correct me if I m wrong!

Not quite. The official 10.2 is not hybrid. The term hybrid is used when you mix different OS files.
Anything that is leaked is from an OS that isn't ready to, or hasn't been released yet. An official OS could have been leaked weeks before it was released officially...such as 10.2.0.1791

As far as the unlocked android runtime, most people are saying that all official versions will have a locked runtime.

To put it simply, think of a leak as a beta version.

I thought with the official 10.2 update it would allow me to side load apps easily. The only one that worked thru ddpd method was Google maps.

So I did some googling and installed the unlocked android runtime and so far everything I tried that didn't work, works now like Kijiji ,candy crush.

So yes you should install unlocked android runtime and use ddpb to install

I think it's version 4.2 I'll have to check when I get home but it has a permanent bar at the bottom. I just Google unlocked android runtime, for some reason non of the crackberry forum pages worked last night so I found it off another site. Should be one of the top hits on google.

I admit I don't understand this "unlocked runtime" issue either. So this is not the normal android-runtime already part of the 10.2 OS? One still has to tweak the runtime by loading another one?

Then, what does the UNlocked runtime offer over the "regular" one? And does this leave two android runtimes in the system or does loading this UNlocked overwrite/replace the official one?

Do these questions convince you I don't know much about the Z10?

Yes the one that comes with the official is locked and i believe you would have to do more steps to get side loaded apps working, like getting the debug token.

With an unlocked android runtime you don't have to.

So once you side load an app with ddpb it should just work that's it simple as drag click press install and done. No need to change file names or this and that.

And I'd imagine it would overwrite the old runtime player or else if both were to be called up it would cause some conflict. Not to sure, but that's what I did anyways, I just installed over, I didn't remove old one then install.

I have official 10.2 OS on Rogers Z10. I have installed the unlocked android runtime from the google docs mirror below and all is good so far. I'm able to run applications I wasn't able to before.

    Best example is
Instagram with regular runtime is NO Go
Instagram with unlocked runtime is Go

Does it have any advantages over non,-unlocked. I have a debug token installed, it's from 10.1 but still seems to work. Is that kind of the same, unlocked und debug token ?

One advantage in an unlocked runtime would be the ability to share bar files.

Any link to the most recent UNlocked Runtime. I followed one thread yesterday and one link was broken. Then I saw another thread mention yet a newer version. And yet another thread mentioning going back to an earlier version. So, for me, confusion reigns. Is there, perhaps, an archive of these things?

I had the unlocked runtime on my previous leaked 10.2 install, and upon upgrading to the newer build from Rogers, I still have the unlocked runtime...all apps work.
