ok so i used quickphoneunlock, was $20USD. I submitted at 9:23am and got my reply at 1:57pm.. I recommend them, there was only one other one i could find that was cheaper ($10usd) but they were not able to get the code for some reason.. I have had a few friends tell me about thecellunlocker.net as well but i chose to save the $5 and go with quickphoneunlock

I believe Telus is suppose to unlock it after 90 days if the customer wants so as per CRTC rulings. Might want to look into it before using other methods..

That's what I remember hearing about the new legislation as well, in the near future all phones will be sold unlocked giving customers more freedom of choice.

Did all of you who used quickphoneunlock, use the code on a Telus z30? did it work without having a Telus sim in the phone when unlocking?

I received a code from them, and now it has failed 3 times. (all these attempts were without a Telus SIM inserted)

    Thanks

The policy changes that go into effect on December... 2nd? of this year don't mention anything about phones being sold unlocked. Just that the carrier has to offer unlocking for free after 90 days and under 90 days, they are allowed to charge the customer. Unfortunately, they don't mention a cost ceiling for the unlocking so under 90 days it may still end up costing $50.

Doesn't help if you are buying a phone from a different carrier but still better than before.

I ordered from a place that used what I have to call the unethical "bait and switch" practice.

Their site is "unlockunit.com" and when I put in my IMEI and CHOSE BB Z30 FROM A DROP DOWN LIST, the price was shown as $9 US... then I get an email "oops, we'll have to charge you $21 more". So for $30 I thought that was the going rate so I paid the extra.... but it's unethical to quote a price then reneg: they simply shouldn't quote a price for the Z30 if they can't deliver.

Another place called "blackberrymep.com" tried the same thing (I paid $9 but then they wrote back and said it would be $48! Put in a dispute resolution through PayPal. I hope it shows up as a mark on their PayPal "reputation")

So, beware the "bait and switch" artists. Sounds like "http://www.quickphoneunlock.com/other-phones/" is the place to go.

So I was able to unlock my z30.

It seems that quickphoneunlock.com has people manually enter the codes that they send in emails. In my case the code was off by 2 digits (reversed numbers).

They were helpful in trying to resolve. And ultimately did resolve the issue. Besides this hiccup, i would recommend them, as they supplied the original code within 2 hours.

    Cheers,

    j.

and your local providers in phone ?

What was the procedure to do Unlock, I have to do this is a couple of days.

    Thanks
