So, quick question here for you.
I used to have a 9900 at the beginning of the year, and decided to venture off and try some new things. Tried the Q10 and wanted more. Currently I have the Note 2 and am loving in. But from time to time, I still miss the 9900. It really was the great BlackBerry I ever owned.
So here is my question. Currently my Note 2 uses a micro SIM card. Is there anyway to easily insert it into the Bold? Is there some kind of adapter I can get to easily swap in and out between the two devices?
The only solution I could think of here is picking up another SIM that is compatible with the Bold and calling Rogers to activate it and such every time I was to switch between the devices.
Any ideas? I really want to use my Bold again.

    Thanks

You can get a micro-SIM adapter, such as the one here. However...you want to make sure that your 9900 likes micro-SIM adapters. I have a 9810, and it does not like micro-SIM adapters, only because IMO the SIM slot isn't designed to accept an adapter.

Thanks. I didn't even think to look on Amazon for an adapter. Dummy move on my part. At least they aren't expensive. Worth a shot to see if it works.

    Thanks man.

How is the 9900 SIM slot? Is the completely closed off (pouched) on the top (which would be like the 9810,) or is it semi-open, just held in place by a bar (like the 9700?) The "pouching" really makes it difficult to put in an adapter.

I am on the same path as you except I can from Z10. I just bought a sim adapter and called T-Mobile to change my Internet plan back to BIS.

Adaptor works just fine. When you pull it out, you just have to make sure that you do so with the SIM in to make it flush. If not, the adaptor will catch those pins, and you are either enable to pull it out, or if you forced it, you might (may very likely) damage them.

So have you done some SIM swapping already? How easy or hard is it?

I'm considering trading my TMO 9810 for a 9900 for this reason. Need a WiFi calling-capable phone.

Here is a picture of the SIM card slot on the Bold.
I will remember to leave the SIM card in the adapter when taking it out.

Just use extreme extreme caution when removing the sim and adapter from the 9900 that you don't pull out the any of the 6 or 8 gold 'prongs' aka sim contacts that are in the slot under the silver band. The adapters sometime stick to them and if you dislodge a prong the device won't read an sim you try to reinstall it.

Thanks for the pics. The slot isn't as sheathed as the 9810, but not as 'free' as the 9700. You should be ok, though.

dont even think of swapping the micro sim into bb 9900 coz even if you use adapter you have to be really careful when inserting and taking out. I damaged my 9900 while trying to insert micro sim to regular with adapter. goodluck.

Will it stay in place though? Won't it move around?

On a side note, this is another thing I sometimes miss of BlackBerry and Crackberry. The community here is great!

Probably not if the battery sits on top of it? The batteries are a pretty snug fit...

I swapped out the micro SIM between my z10 and my 9900 several times and found it worked best without an adapter in the Bold. Just line it up right and don't push it all the way in. Mine does not move once the battery and cover are on.

It might take a few tries to line it up right though, which is a painful process because you're constantly having to do a battery pull to get to the SIM slot. And we all know how "fast" those legacy BlackBerry devices are to reboot! Lol
