    Hi all,

I bought new Z10 today, was happy to hold it until I got stuck in the initial setup screen.

Inserted battery phone turned on, I selected language, connected to wifi, agreed to agreement, entered BB ID and when I got to software update It is stuck there for last 4 hours. After some research online I came to know this problem is common with Z10s. I tried following methods to get it running.

    1. Battery pull and started phone without sim card.
    2. Connected to BB Link, went to options and reloaded the software with factory reset. but when I rebooted the phone I see it stuck at the software update screen.

Experts your help is desperately need and will be appreciated. Thank You.

Im regretting my move to switch from android to bb os10. No wonder BB is going down, bugs in the initial setup screen would really **** off customers like me. BB OS10 bad impression.

Expert guys please need your help.

I've seen this issue with a few z10's I've sold. They just keep getting frozen or rebooting during set up. All Verizon models though

Well I swapped them out for a new one. Probably not the answer you wanted but bb seems to have some quality control issues

What country are you from? This is very uncommon issue, hearing for the first time. Did you try to disable Wi-Fi and try with your cellular connection?

I have experienced this issue before. You must have a valid and active SIM card in the phone for it to complete the update process. The reason for this is the start-up sequence. The device will check for updates before it turns the WiFi on. If there is no cellular connection (Valid and active SIM card) the phone will hang.

Thank you everyone for the help.

I took out the battery for around 2 to 3 hours and when I got the chance to go out of house I tried one hotspot and yeahh it worked.

Thats how issue was resolved. Thank you everyone once again.

@russmov I already had one Q10, sold S3 (secondary phone) and moved to Z10. I would say OS10 is much better than previous BB OS but I was disappointed with BB to leave a bug in the initial setup. No wonder RIM faced such loses.

@Usman I will the leak a try .. thanks bro

There seems to be a general problem with the update server today. We have this with all our devices. BlackBerry says "no problem"....

And by the way...we rolled out 600 Z10 with just three broken devices...so I don't think there is a problem with device quality....

    had almost the same issue.
    Try to start initial setup
Get to the point were you need sim. Inserted my sim. Then it says si not accepted. Then I try without Sim. Wifi-setup didn't work either :S Tried 2 routers en a hotspot. Always saying: connecting to internet. this after it got the Ip-adress...
Returned it to the store. Hope I will get it back before August, want it with me on my trip.
