Can I use my Z10 with AT&T's prepaid service? In August I switched from postpaid to prepaid as their $40 smartphone plan meets my needs. The Z10 works great and the service indicator shows 4G icon for data. I called AT&T yesterday to enquire about LTE service. The rep said BlackBerries may not be used with AT&T prepaid for data, saying that I must use Wi-Fi. He said that once AT&T's system detects my phone being a BlackBerry, data service will shut off. Before I made the switch, an in-store rep said that any GSM smartphone would work and I did mention the Z10 to her.

I would guess they mean legacy phones. No reason why it wouldn't work on AT&T but like all carriers they seem to do what they want. We have the same issue in Canada, at least I have had in the past,with Telus, not allowing certain phones on prepaid. Gave them a push and they buckled. Tell Em you will go to the FCC and complain!!

Trying to get a straight answer can be frustrating. Each call or visit seems to yield a different answer.

Not even close to being true. Look at the front of the AT&T GoPhone page and you will see a Lumia 520. I am on the GoPhone $60 plan and I have switched back and forth between the Z10 and Lumia 920. You should have zero issues. Whoever you talked to had no idea what they were talking about.

I think that rep was talking about legacy phones also. The legacy phones would not work without a BIS plan so you would need wifi in order to use many functions. As long as you have a data plan though, your BB10 phone will work.
