I'm talking 5" 1080p 3gb ram, quad core cpu/gpu, 64gb memory, wireless charging, hdmi nfc, super high end building materials etc etc. If they put every bell and whistle into it would you seriously put down the cash for it? People constantly complain that bbs don't have the specs to compete with android phones but would you be willing to pay for it? BlackBerry can't afford to subsidize phones like Google does.

I would not, unless I really liked it and had money to blow. I would get it on an upgrade though.

Why would it have to cost $1000? other phone manufacters could build the same phone and charge $600-650 for it. Why would BB have to charge a $400 premium for it?

Nah I wouldn't buy it. For one simple reason, at this point, if BlackBerry released a smartphone with modern hardware specs such as a 1080p screen, quad-core processor and 3GB of RAM, I'd fall over dead from shock. Can't buy a phone if I'm dead. So that'll be a no for me at any price.

High end everything, Samsung cheaps out on building materials. BlackBerry also can't afford to take a hit on hardware like Samsung or Google. I'm talking highest of the high in specs, something that would actually be worth the 1000.

Still can't justify paying that much for a device. No apps/ecosystem = no buy for this guy.

Are you serious? - At this stage of the game I wouldn't touch a new Blackberry even if it had the power of a super computer. Sorry, I have been a die hard BB fan up to now but the events in the recent weeks have made me think that the people that run this company is simply not capable of even running a mom and pop grocery store let alone a company like Blackberry. I do, however still like and use my Z10 as my daily driver even though I have picked up an iPhone 5s.

No. BlackBerry phones are good and all, but not that good. If I were to spend $1000 on a phone(that would never happen), it would be with a different brand/manufacturer that I trust more and that makes better devices.

I actually like to use different OS's from time to time so that's not an issue.

Also, I think a lot of people forget all the issues that BlackBerry phones have had in the past. So with that in mind, no, I would not spend my first $1000 for a phone made by BlackBerry. It would be from one of the companies I've bought phones from in the past that had less quality control and build issues.

Yes, all phone manufacturers have had some quality control and build issues. For me, it's a matter of which ones have a better track record that would help me decide who would be the first to get $1000 from me.

I don't mind a future proof phone... especially now that their future is uncertain... I really dislike other OS so... I don't mind something that can last me for another 3/4 yes before something else comes along

Hell, even Canonical's (failed) Ubuntu Edge was only asking for $700 (4GB of ram, 128GB storage, new battery tech, sapphire glass, etc.).

699.95(Bell) for the Z30 plus 59.99(Future Shop) for a 64GB memory card plus 34.95(Crackberry) for a case is 794.89 plus taxes is almost 900. So Blackberry already makes a 1000 device.
