A little background... I have been a BB user for 15+ years. Recently I have been jumping back and forth between all the OS' and I really would like to believe BB is going to make it. Lots and lots of speculation all over the blogs, forums, news, and chatter at work every time BB is mentioned. All indicators point to BB being chopped up for parts by this investment company and consumer phone sales and support ceasing to exist after a year or maybe a while longer. I cannot help but think where is Thorsten? Is it that he also doesn't quite know about the future of the company, and at this point has pulled back from making any more public statements that (usually) end up back firing? Or if he knows the company will remain wholly as BB and still be in the consumer cellphone business, then why no public statements to quiet down the skeptics...and more importantly give confidence to those debating on purchasing a bb10 device. As it is now, it seems that with the direct selling of bb10 devices from blackberry itself, they are just getting rid of their inventory before calling it quits. The carriers are slowly but surely stopping their orders of BB10 devices, several have stopped carrying them in the stores and sell them only online. Maybe BB sees direct sales as the only way of getting rid of the last bit of inventory. There are dozens of posts on this site asking if they should get a bb10 exactly because the lead bb figure remains quiet. Sorry to ramble on but does anyone else think that it would be appropriate and a good time for the chief to make a statement either way? I apologize if he actually HAS made a staement in the past few days since the buy out announcement...if so I have not heard of it.

He can talk, everybody else at BlackBerry seems to have something to say but the one man that should be talking.

Both are laughing with their piles of money. Thor is ducking shareholders by canceling the earnings call and no showing for BlackBerry Jam Asia.

Alicia doesn't give a damn weather blackberry succeeds or fails as long as they cut a check. You'll find her twitter feed full of tweets about rebook though. Not a word on blackberry.

Where is Thorsten? Undoubtedly holed up in either the top floor of a skyscraper or an old castle, together with Prem Watsa, 50 million dollars in small denominations, massive amounts of cocaine and a dozen strippers.

His Outlook says: "Strategy Meeting Y14" for all of this week, which we can assume means he and Prem are celebrating that everything went according to plan.

The most logical explanation is that it's all over for the current management and he's on his way out. He's certainly not trying to salvage anything. You know there's a problem when the "We're not going anywhere" message is delivered by the developer relations guy. If they aren't going anywhere then TH should be front and center offering some reassurance to clients and investors rather than releasing a statement that the Fairfax deal "may have negatively impacted demand for the company's products.

Damned if you do, Damned if you don't. No matter what he does it won't change what is happening right now. I don't think the average consumer is going to look to him for reassurance the company will be around and most die hards already don't like/trust him anyways. Honestly what can he say at this point that will help turn things around?
