With all the BS happening with the stock markets shun on BlackBerry, why not release the new version early? what could it hurt, really?

Right. BlackBerry could release it today but the carriers have the control over when the OS will hit the devices

    Why not release 10.2 early?-why_not_zoidberg__by_nogard00-d5523p1.jpg
Seriously though, they can release 10.2 whenever they want. it still has to pass through the carriers and right now, the carriers have their timeframes set. It's not as easy as just saying "Ok, let it go out today". By all technical terms, 10.2 has already been released. You're just not seeing it because the carriers haven't approved it.

I'm genuinely curious to know: Why is it that when Apple releases a new phone or a new version of iOS, they say it's going to be available on a specific date and it is. No bull**** about carrier testing, availability or anything else. Is it because carriers don't test iOS? Or is it because they test it, approve it and only then Apple announces a release date thereby guaranteeing they're going to make it and it's everywhere all at once?

Because if a carrier says no to Apple, then Apple just says "okay, fine you no longer get to sell iPhones then, your loss." and guess what? No carrier in their right mind would go up against Apple at the threat of not being able to sell their devices. Not only would it cause the carrier to lose tons of money, but it would also cause the carriers to lose monstrous numbers of customers. You can even take a step back and simply say that the shareholders of carriers simply would not allow them to do that, while they don't give a sh*t about BlackBerry devices because the demand for them isn't even comparable to iPhones in the slightest.

AKA Apple controls carriers, and carriers take it and have to act like they are enjoying it.
