BBM for Android and iOS had been put on hold for a lame reason that someone had leaked the app the causes whatever damage or failure in BlackBerry.

Leaks have been a norm in this tech era and it is up to the original owner how to keep it from spreading. If their leaked version of BBM app is not ripe enough to be make public, then i would presume Blackberry have some sort of "blocking" code that invalidate these. Same way those "invited beta tested" cant easily share the beta app.

come to think of it, BB OS10 is being leak almost weekly, if people keep on installing these leaked OS10, perhaps one day Blackberry will use it as an alibi and close down.

Though i strongly believe that leaked OS is a way to have the general public with strong sense of guts to test the OS and get feedbacks without commitment.

Anyway, let all be warned that continous use of leaked OS may one day be a good alibi for Blackberry to close down its doors.

OP, did you know that BlackBerry employees are always using (actively testing) newer versions of the OS than what the carriers deploy to consumers ?
It has nothing to do with the BBM issues happening at the moment.

Not with the leaked OS, but with the beta of BBM for Android platforms, BlackBerry did make a statement it had issues in their NOC And dealing with it.

I do see where the OP is coming from ideally that the leaked BBM at least on Android isn't helping and most likely caused the delay which makes BlackBerry look bad in the public eye. Then again BlackBerry should've been prepared for such an eventuality.

I was suppose to start another thread, but decided to just continue from this thread.

Seriously....havent anyone thought of why or how servers know what browser you use? How they know if you're using a desktop or mobile? How BlackBerry World know which apps have new updates and allow users to install? and even our beloved smartphone sends the current version number before knowing if there is a new updated OS isnt it? And why would these machine-only servers know all these? Because version numbers and other vital application ids are embedded into each app!

Take the case of BBM for Android and iOS how did Blackberry able to block android users and direct them to bbm.com while iOS users (and blackberry users)arent? Its just as simple as because they know... they know what you're using and then isolate you android BBM users.

Since they have a way to track it, since they have a way to know the cause of their server hog (due to the leaked version of android bbm), and since they "SUPPOSEDLY" have the official version ready that also "SUPPOSEDLY" fixes the tremendous data usage of leaked version, then why would BlackBerry redirects BBM for Android users to bbm.com if they could just instruct or redirect these leaked-users to an official fixed version? Would it be faster and easier to solve rather than holding everybody back and then make Blackberry look bad?

Or is there another motive behind such mess? Intentionally creating a mess to lower down its public trust subsequently lowering market share of BBRY and.... finally resulted to lower buy back of share to make itself private? (currently announced as $9 per share)

Going back to the original topic/title... if its an "easy way out" that blackberry is looking for to do things their way (note they're trying to go private) then they can just keep on releasing leaked OS and have smart *** techie try it on their units and subsequently damage it, endure a few days of blasting critism, push these techie to buy and play other brands, and ultimately leave Blackberry a set of Blackberry loyal users who listen, follow and do what Blackberry wants. Sounds like robots eh?

Damn! until now im still using their official 10.1.0.4181 release, that makes me one of their favorite robot.
